Netflix Renews Hit Crime Drama for Season 2

1 July 20262 Mins Read

Netflix is doubling down on its hit crime drama Nemesis.

The streamer announced on Tuesday, June 30, that the series, co-created by Courtney A. Kemp and Tani Marole, had been renewed for a second season, with production on Season 2 set to begin soon.

Nemesis, which follows the cat-and-mouse game between Detective Stiles (Matthew Law) and expert thief Wilder (Y’lan Noel), spent five weeks on Netflix’s global top 10 English-language TV charts following its premiere, hitting the top spot in its second week on the streamer.

“I feel blessed to get a Season 2,” Kemp told Netflix’s Tudum. “We thank the fans, it’s because of them—there’s no other reason. It’s them showing up, them talking about it, and their huge social media response… We are grateful to Netflix for recognizing the power of our audience and bringing us back for the fans.”

In Season 2, Stiles and Wilder will continue to face off as the show both answers existing questions and introduces new questions that need to be answered. “Make no mistake, Season 2 is going to be bigger and better,” Marole teased.

Fans will also meet plenty of new characters, as Marole quipped that they “killed a lot of people” in the first season. As for who will be joining the fray in Season 2? “Most African American families are large,” Kemp hinted.

“Nemesis is the story of two men on either side of the law, the tale of what happens when an unstoppable force (an expert criminal) meets an immovable object (a brilliant police detective),” as per the show’s official logline. “What starts as a crime series amped with thrilling life-or-death stakes and explosive action drives deeper to explore family, marriage, and personal identity—that which drives us, sustains us, and ultimately destroys us.”

Nemesis Season 1 also starred Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Domenick Lombardozzi, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, Gabrielle Dennis, Michael Potts, Sophina Brown, Cedric Joe, and Jeff Pierre, with guest stars including Moe Irvin, Quincy Isaiah, Jay Reeves, Mike O’Malley, Stephanie Sigman, Khalilah Joi, Shane Johnson, Siua Ikale’o, Dawnn Lewis, Mark Feuerstein and Chris Bauer.

Season 1 of Nemesis is available to stream now on Netflix.
