It’s Stampede week in Calgary, which basically means that the city is running on pancakes, concerts and a whole lot of western energy. But if you’re not spending every minute at the Stampede grounds, there are still plenty of ways to get out and explore the city without getting caught in the crowds.

We’ve rounded up some of the best things to do this weekend so you can skip the scrolling and get straight to planning!

Let’s jump into it.

Want to catch some Stampede entertainment without draining your wallet? Head over to Fluor Rope Square for live music, a pancake breakfast, roping demonstrations, and plenty of free activities that bring the Stampede spirit right into the heart of downtown Calgary.

When: Friday, July 3, to Sunday, July 12, 2026
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Stephen Avenue – 8th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

The Calgary Stampede has officially arrived, and that can only mean one thing: the city is about to be busier than ever. Over the next 10 days, Calgary will be filled with rodeo action, midway rides, incredible food, pancake breakfasts, and western-themed events happening well beyond the Stampede grounds.

When: Friday, July 3, to Sunday, July 12, 2026
Time: 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
Where: 1410 Stampede Tr. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: $17 to $28

Superheroes Weekend at Spruce Meadows returns during the ‘North American’ tournament, bringing a packed weekend of sport, entertainment, and family activities all in one place. Across the grounds, guests can expect SkyHawks parachute demonstrations, Canadian Armed Forces tributes, and world-class show jumping.

The weekend also features the Celtic Festival with piping and drumming, Highland dance, athletics, and clan heritage celebrations. Alongside that are the International Sheep Herding Trials, where skilled working dogs guide sheep through timed courses. On top of that, the weekend includes Marvel x Spruce Meadows comic book releases, Cavalry FC activations, soccer screenings on the big screen, Friday outdoor movie nights, and food vendors and shopping.

Time: July 3: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., July 4: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., July 5: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: General admission: $15. Children 3-12 and seniors: $10. Children 3 and under: free (free parking included)

Cowboys Music Festival is back with another stacked Stampede lineup, bringing some of the biggest names to the city. This year’s festival features performances from John Summit, Tucker Wetmore, Sam Barber, RuPaul, and plenty more. Whether you’re heading there for the country acts, EDM, or the electric atmosphere, this is one Stampede party you won’t want to miss.

When: Friday, July 3, 2026, to Sunday, July 12, 2026
Time: Times vary (gates typically open at 5 p.m. for shows)
Where: 1220 9th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Ticket prices vary

Celebrate Stampede season at Calgary Farmers Market’s free Farm Fresh Festival happening on Saturday, July 4, at CFM West and Saturday, July 11, at CFM South from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both locations will be packed with Stampede-inspired fun, including live music, farm games, rope demos, cowboy meet-and-greets, Tailgate Truck Popsicles, and more.

To top it all off, the first 200 guests at each market will also receive a free pulled pork barbecue lunch from Big T’s BBQ, served at noon!

Have you ever wanted to experience the sights, sounds and flavours of Mexico without leaving Calgary? Mexifest is bringing a full cultural takeover to Eau Claire Plaza, transforming the space into a three-day celebration of Mexican food, music, art and entertainment.

When: Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 5, 2026
Time: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: Eau Claire Plaza – 101 Barclay Parade SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Friday, Free from 11 a.m. to noon; Saturday and Sunday, $10 in advance or $20 at the entrance

If you’re looking to catch a break from all the Stampede festivities. The Canadian Famous Comedy Tour is rolling into Yuk Yuk’s for a night of big laughs and sharp storytelling. Headlining the show is Saskatchewan-born comedian Braydon Lynch, known for his mix of prairie charm, self-deprecating humour, and offbeat takes on everyday life.

When: Friday, July 3, to Saturday, July 4, 2026
Time: 8 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Yuk Yuk’s – 218 18th Ave., Calgary, Alta.
Cost: $25 plus fees

The Calgary Métis Festival is back at the Confluence Historic Site, bringing a full day of culture, celebration and community right into the heart of the city. The festival showcases Métis heritage through live fiddling and jigging, traditional and contemporary music, and hands-on activities throughout the day. It’s a vibrant, family-friendly event that brings people together to celebrate culture in a way that feels interactive, welcoming and fun.

When: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Time: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: The Confluence Historic Site – 750 9th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free and open to the public

Want to experience your favourite Netflix shows in real life? Netflix is bringing its House Party Pop-Up to Calgary, turning the Princeton into an immersive photo experience. Throughout the space, guests can step into themed installations inspired by hit shows like Stranger Things, K-pop Demon Hunters, Bridgerton, and more.

When: Sunday, July 5, 2026
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Your furry friends don’t have to miss out on Stampede season; Bon-A-Pet-Treat’s Puppy Pancake Day is bringing a tail-wagging celebration back to the city with free pancakes for dogs, treats and a full day of pet-friendly fun. Expect a lineup of fun, from pet vendors and raffle prizes to photo booth moments, giveaways, and special Stampede in-store deals.
