Your guide to the must-see festivals happening in and around Calgary this July

Summer in Calgary always seems to fly by, which is exactly why July is the perfect time to fill up your calendar. Luckily, festival season is in full swing, with everything from live music and multicultural celebrations to foodie events and community festivals taking over the city all month long. Whether you’re looking to discover a new favourite festival or revisit one you never miss, there’s something happening for just about every interest.

To make it easy, we’ve rounded up all of the Calgary festivals you’ll want on your radar this July.

Starting off strong, the Calgary Stampede is back with 10 days of rodeo action, food, and city-wide celebrations across Calgary. The city shifts into full western mode with a pancake breakfast, pop-up events, concerts, and themed gatherings happening in neighbourhoods all over town.

Cowboys Music Festival is celebrating its 30-year anniversary with a packed lineup of live music and DJ sets spread across Cowboys Park, Cowboys Dance Hall, and Whiskey Rose. This year’s roster includes artists such as Sean Paul, 5 Seconds of Summer, Dominic Fike, Ella Langley, and more.

Some of the biggest names in electronic and hip-hop are taking over the Badlands Music Festival this year, with artists like A$AP Rocky, Dom Dolla, Walker, and Royce, creating a stacked lineup across all 10 days of the Calgary Stampede.

Mexifest is bringing a weekend-long celebration of Mexican culture to Calgary, taking over Eau Claire Plaza with live music, dance performances, food vendors and cultural showcases. The festival will feature mariachi bands, folklórico dancers, Lucha Libre wrestling and more.

So if you’ve ever wanted to get a taste of Mexico without leaving Calgary, this is your chance!

When: Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 6, 2026
Time: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: Eau Claire Plaza – 101 Barclay Parade SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Friday, Free from 11 a.m. to noon; Saturday and Sunday, $10 in advance or $20 at the entrance

Held at The Confluence Historic Site and Parkland, Métis Fest is a one-day celebration that highlights Métis culture through storytelling, music, and community gatherings.

At the festival, you’ll find traditional performances like fiddle music and jigging, along with live cultural demonstrations, artisan vendors and activities that bring Métis heritage to life.

When: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Time: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: The Confluence Historic Site – 750 9th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free and open to the public

If listening to live music by the riverside sounds like your vibe, you’ll want to add the Roundup Music Festival to your list. Set right along the Bow River, the festival features rock and indie performances by artists like Billy Idol, David Lee Roth, Foster the People, and Grouplove.

When: Wednesday, July 8, to Thursday, July 9, 2026
Time: 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: Prince’s Island Park – 698 Eau Claire Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.

Fiestaval is the kind of festival you’ll most likely hear before you even see it. Running July 17 to 19, you can expect a full weekend of Latin music, DJs and nonstop dancing taking over Eau Claire Plaza. Throughout the plaza, you’ll find food vendors serving up traditional Latin dishes, alongside live performances, salsa dancing, and more.

When: Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19, 2026
Time: Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Calgary’s biggest celebration of folk music is back this July, returning to Prince’s Island Park with a full weekend of live performances across multiple stages. The lineup includes Of Monsters and Men, Thundercat, Corb Lund, and dozens of other local and international acts performing throughout the space, creating a walkable festival experience.

When: Thursday, July 23, to Sunday, July 26, 2026
Time: 4 p.m.

If you’re not quite done with country music after Stampede, head over to the Bow Valley Boot Stomp in Cochrane and enjoy a weekend of live music from country artists like Shawnee Kish, Kyle McKearney, and Jennie Harluck.

If blues music is your thing, Calgary Bluesfest is closing out July with four days of live performances at The Confluence Historic Site. The festival brings together a mix of Canadian and international artists, including Big Dave McLean, Miss Emily, David Gogo, and more, with daytime sets and evening shows running across multiple stages.
