A massive Greek festival is coming to Vancouver for two weekends this July and it’s free to enjoy

9 July 20263 Mins Read

Vancouver’s Greek Summerfest is now in its 40th year, so if you missed out on Greek Day on Broadway, you’re in luck. This massive free outdoor festival spans two weekends, kicking off on Thursday, July 9.

Every year, the fundraiser celebration brings an exciting lineup of local bands and cultural performers together to honour Vancouver’s diverse Greek and Mediterranean communities. And of course, a huge part of the festivities is the food; festival-goers will get to indulge in favourites like loukoumades (Greek donuts), souvlaki, BBQ lamb, spanakopita, as well as a handful of vegan bites.

Admission to the festival is always free, making it the perfect place to drop by on a weekend morning or afternoon for a bite to eat and some quality time connecting with neighbours and friends as live music fills the air.

Luckily for those who live further east in the city, the fun takes place at Boundary outside of the Greek Orthodox Community of East Vancouver.

This week, the festival opens at 11 a.m. on July 9, with a performance by Alpha Video. The headlining act will come later, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., with a reggae concert by Mostly Marley.

Alpha Video will open each day the festival runs, and will be followed by Greek bands, dance performances, rock cover bands, and Roma jazz bands.

During the second weekend, dancing will dominate the lineup, with traditional Greek, Serbian, Portuguese, and belly dancing performances on the calendar.

The festival has been celebrating Greek heritage in Vancouver since 1987, delighting visitors from across the city with tasty souvlaki dinners, a lively atmosphere, and great dancing both on and off the stage. In addition to authentic Greek food, you’ll find all kinds of local vendors to peruse.

Mark your calendars for Thursday, July 9 to Sunday, July 12, and Thursday, July 16 to Sunday, July 19, if you want to experience a taste of Greece without leaving the city.

The festivities will run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on most days, except for Fridays and Saturdays, when it will operate until “late,” according to organizers on Instagram.

It’s time for another round of feasting, dancing, and saying “opa!”

When: Thursday, July 9, to Sunday, July 12, and Thursday, July 16, to Sunday, July 19, 2026
Time: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., or later on Fridays and Saturdays
Where: 4541 Boundary Rd.
Admission: Free admission
