An adults-only outdoor party with live music is coming to Vancouver’s Science World

10 July 20263 Mins Read

Science World’s second-ever outdoor summer party is making its way back to False Creek for one day only this July, and you won’t want to miss it. You’ll get to explore all kinds of engaging science stalls led by local researchers, as well as dance to live music all night long, presented by Sofar Sounds.

Get ready to enjoy concerts from folk and acoustic artist Robyn Froese, DJ Sam Chimes, and Stephen Hamm: Theremin Man, all with a drink in hand.

With admission, adults are free to explore six permanent galleries at the museum, as well as the Soccer and Technology exhibition from the FIFA Museum, where guests can discover the inner workings of the largest spectator sport in the world.

Outdoors is where the fun really unfolds, however. Ken Spencer Science Park will become host to exciting live science shows, live music, and all-around impeccable summer vibes.

And if you work up an appetite, there’s always food from Triple O’s to fuel your evening.

Summer Science Stalls

There will be several stalls with different science activations to check out during your visit. This includes the Moses Filter, which collects, analyzes, and reduces storm drain debris, solving complex municipal waste challenges as a result. At this stall, you’ll get to see these devices up close!

Those who want to learn about the hidden networks of the human brain can meet UBC researchers Joey Bhangal, Brighton Reed, and Dr. Thomas J. Rennie.

Bhangal collaborates internationally and uses data from some of the world’s most powerful telescopes to study how galaxies form and evolve.

Reed works in the field of Magnetoencephalography (MEG), a powerful neuroimaging technique that predicts brain activity based on tiny magnetic fields.

Dr. Rennie specializes in analyzing and interpreting radio maps of the Milky Way, and joined UBC to work on the Canadian Galactic Emission Mapper (CGEM), a project designed to search for gravitational radiation from the early universe.

So bring any and all of your curiosities about the brain and life’s biggest questions about the universe. Now is the time to learn something new and nerd out!

Finally, we come to the Community Connected by Water stall, which is dedicated to the three-year collaborative project to connect locals to the biodiversity of False Creek. Led by Langara College, the Hakai Institute, Atelier Aloera, and False Creek Friends Society, the project explores how a deeper understanding of False Creek’s conditions can shape our relationship with this urban waterway.

Of course, you can always grab a refreshing beer in the park or at Science World to soak up the summer vibes. In addition to After Dark activities, you’ll be able to explore the park’s Gardening Robot, the Wetland Revitalization, and go on a contemplative walk on the Reflection Walk.

How much are tickets?

As always, tickets are limited ($34.99 for early bird tickets), so be sure to snag some sooner rather than later if you’re planning to go.

Keep in mind that all “After Dark” events at Science World are 19+.

So there you have it, Vancouver. If interactive science exhibits are calling your name, we say go for it!

The outdoor Sparks and Rec event will take place on Thursday, July 23, from 6 to 10 p.m.

When: Thursday, July 23, 2026
Time: 6 to 10 p.m.
Where: 1455 Quebec St.
Cost: $34.99 for early bird tickets
