South Vancouver is getting a summer social with free yoga and live DJs this August

15 July 20263 Mins Read

The River District is about to become a serious contender for your next summer hangout spot. For one day only this August, Wesgroup’s riverfront community in South Vancouver is transforming for a free, all-day summer social, and all are invited to the celebration.

The fun takes place at District House, the presentation centre next to Kinross South Park. Here, visitors will find free yoga classes, mini golf, an array of food vendors, and local sips.

Free yoga classes

Starting at 9 a.m., there will be three free yoga classes led by Yyoga, with sessions at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a.m. (online registration required).

At noon, the first 200 guests signing up for the Wesgroup newsletter on-site can claim a free token for a treat from one of the participating food vendors, which include Shameless Buns, Disco Cheetah, Rain or Shine Ice Cream, and Mimi’s Focaccia.

Wesgroup adds that 150 of the 200 tokens will be available for use right away, and can be redeemed at Shameless Buns, Disco Cheetah, or Rain or Shine. Starting at 3 p.m., the 50 remaining tokens can be redeemed at Mimi’s Focaccia during the event’s happy hour.

Mini golf, live music, and margaritas

Throughout the day, you can play mini golf, dance along to a live DJ, and enjoy live music until the evening winds down. According to organizers, picnic tables will be set up along the grassy area behind District House for anyone looking to stay awhile, with drinks available for purchase, including margs from the Little Margarita Wagon, with non-alcoholic options available as well.

Finally, there will be a kids’ zone with balloon twisting, a colouring station, and a magnet-making station.

The kids’ zone, mini golf, picnic tables, and DJ area will operate from noon until 7 p.m.

As this is a completely free community event, there’s no need to register or reserve your spot! Simply mark your calendars for Sunday, Aug. 9, and sign up for any yoga sessions you’re interested in.

Summer isn’t complete without a hangout in the River District!

When: Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026
Time: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: 3302 North Arm Ave., presentation centre next to Kinross South Park
Cost: Free admission
