Calgary’s quirkiest festival is returning with hot rod shows and mini races

17 July 20263 Mins Read

This August, Calgary’s Greenview Industrial District will transform into a two-day festival celebrating all things wonderfully weird. The Tango 2 Echo Festival is returning for its eighth year, bringing together local businesses, community, live music and art for a weekend unlike anything you’ve seen before.

The event will fill the park with custom vehicles, creative displays, food, and activities that give Calgarians a reason to check out a part of the city they might normally drive past.

Now let’s take a further look at what’s going down at Tango 2 Echo.

Stretching across seven city blocks, Tango 2 Echo Festival is taking over Greenview Industrial District and transforming the area into a celebration of creativity, community, and all things unexpected. According to organizers, it was created to showcase the local businesses, artists, and culture that have helped shape Greenview into the community it is today.

Throughout the weekend, the park will come alive with entertainment, activities, and experiences that are designed for all ages. Guests can watch motorcycle trick riders in action, check out custom vehicles at the hot rod show and shine, and race mini cars. It’ll also feature an Indigenous fire-and-steel activation, a pet photo booth, an artisan market, and interactive art installations.

And of course, a full day of activities calls for some fuel. Visitors can grab some food from the community barbecue, relax with a drink in the pet-friendly beer gardens, and take a break before jumping back in.

In addition to entertainment and activities, the festival will support local organizations. According to organizers, there will be a 50/50 draw supporting the FreshStart Men’s Recovery Centre, while proceeds from the daily barbecue will go towards the MEOW Foundation.

Pricing and timing

The Tango 2 Echo Festival will take place on Saturday, Aug. 1, and Sunday, Aug. 2. And entry is completely free, so you can drop by and enjoy the festivities without needing a ticket!

The fun will kick off on Saturday night with the Night Shift from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., featuring a lineup of music, art, and glow installations. The celebration will continue on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a daytime festival that is a great option for families or anyone looking to spend a day in the sunshine.

So if you’ve never been to the Tango 2 Echo Festival, this might be the year to check it out and see what makes this celebration so unique.

When: Saturday, Aug. 1 to Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026
Time: Saturday:  6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Greenview Industrial Park – 3907 3a St. NE, Calgary, Alta.
