Located inside Fish Creek Provincial Park, Sikome Lake is one of Calgary’s most popular summer spots when you’re looking to spend a day by the water. The man-made lake features a sandy beach, designated swimming areas, picnic spaces, and plenty of space to relax. The lake also has amenities like washrooms, change rooms, and concessions, so you can make a whole afternoon out of your visit.

For a more natural way to cool off, Sandy Beach Park is another local favourite when summer temperatures start to climb. On warm summer days, you’ll also find lots of people bringing their furry friends along to cool off.

Bowness Park is a great option if you want to cool off without having to go for a swim. You can rent a paddle boat and cruise around the lagoon, hop on the park’s miniature train, wander along the pathways, or find a shady spot for a picnic. It’s a nice change of pace if you’re looking to spend the day outside without being packed into a busy pool.
