There’s a new late-night eats spot that recently opened in the GTA and it boasts a menu that’s essentially a comfort food lover’s dream: Good Brother Fresh Charcoal Kebab is serving up fresh, sizzling kebabs and Chinese barbecue that’s sure to make anyone’s mouth water. And it’s all available until 2 a.m. daily.
While a selection of signature dishes and vegetable selections change with the seasons – this summer’s offerings include a spicy crawfish pot – some of the cornerstone plates stay the same. The marinated scallops, for example, are delicately cured to enhance the fish’s natural sweetness and then topped with a bright and bold zing of citrus, fresh herbs, and flavourful vegetables to create a bold flavour profile despite the simplicity of the ingredients.
There’s also a family-style portion to Good Brother’s menu, as skewers (which include beef short rib, green peppercorn chicken and boneless lamb rib) come to the table with a barbecue that’s cooking the meat to perfection, and hot and cold seafood platters as well as smoky barbeque favourites and sides like smashed cucumbers and tofu skin and cilantro rolls come sizzling and fresh as can be.
Whether a table is ordering individual plates bursting with Jianghu-style flavours or hearty shared dishes, guests can wash down their Chinese barbecue favourites with a nice cold beer or a handcrafted cocktail and enjoy the meal on the large outdoor patio or in front of one of the large televisions inside.
Good Brother is decorated with wide, glossy wooden tables, decorations that hang from the ceiling, tastefully places flora, and cozy, intimate booths. There are also private rooms available, which are outfitted like street vendors and match the bar in the middle of the space to create a more authentic experience.
Good Brother Fresh Charcoal Kebab is located at 7287 Yonge Street in Thornhill and open until 2 a.m. daily.
