Dolly Parton has shared huge news about her next chapter,
The country music superstar took to Instagram to share a special video message directly with her millions of fans, delivering a personal update on her next project. Stepping in front of the camera with her signature warmth and radiant smile, the country music legend revealed official details for her long-awaited DOLLY: A True Original Musical.
The musical’s official Instagram page posted the video clip. Additionally, the caption read, “Broadway, the Dolly way. See you soon, New York City!”
Parton wore a lovely, sheer black top with coordinating pants as she spoke to her followers. She responded to a series of fan questions about the production, including whether or not she would attend any of the shows after opening night.

That special evening is scheduled for Tuesday, January 19, 2027, Parton’s 81st birthday. Preview performances for the musical begin on Monday, December 7, 2026, at the St. James Theatre in New York City.
Parton shared, “Well, I plan to be in New York as much as I can be while we’re working on the show. I don’t know that I’ll be there as much as when we were in Nashville, ’cause we were working up the show completely from here.”
“So I was there almost every single day,” she added. “But I will be there as much as I can be.”
“And of course, Good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise, I will definitely be there on the opening night,” Parton continued. That phrase means a person plans to do something, provided that no unexpected trouble gets in the way. She concluded, “And I’ll be there as much as I can during the previews as well.”

“We love you Dolly!” exclaimed one Instagram user. A second penned, “Can’t wait to see the show.”
“So excited for this,” declared a third fan. A fourth admirer noted, “Take care of you first, Dolly Parton; we need you,” referencing the health struggles the beloved entertainer has experienced over the past year.
In a statement regarding the project, Parton told Deadline, “My whole life has been a musical. A grand ole opera really, and I can’t wait to present it to you on Broadway. I hope you enjoy watching as much as I’ve enjoyed livin’ it.”
Parton will not appear in the show, per The New York Times. However, her life story and catalog of work will be featured, including the songs “I Will Always Love You,” “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “9 to 5,” as well as new tunes Parton wrote specifically for the musical.
