Fred again.. is bringing his new album to, yes, a sauna in Toronto, Canada Reviews

13 August 20262 Mins Read

Toronto is getting an unusually immersive Fred again.. listening experience.

On Aug. 16, the Yorkville location of Othership will host a series of 75-minute Free Flow sessions featuring the DJ and producer’s new album, 9 months & 50 hours. Rather than listening to the record in a traditional club or record store, spa-folk will experience it while moving between saunas and ice baths.

The event is a cool match for Othership, a bathhouse and wellness space built around music, communal experiences and guided healing rituals that has garnered them a youthful and exuberant following. Its Free Flow format allows guests the freedom to move through the space at their own pace, without a structured guide directing each transition.

Sessions featuring Fred again.. are scheduled between 7:45 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 16. The concept is something considerably more atmospheric and decidedly different when compared to a conventional album playback: listeners can sweat it out in the sauna, cool down in an ice bath and let the new music soundtrack the entire experience.

It also aligns with Othership’s “sober-curious” approach, giving fans a chance to make a night of it without the usual club setting or alcohol.

For Fred again.. fans, the event could offer a particularly fitting way to hear 9 months & 50 hours — surrounded by the communal, emotional and physical atmosphere that has become central to the artist’s music.

Tickets for the listening sessions are available through Othership’s website.

In other words, if you’ve ever thought that Fred again.. sounds best while simultaneously questioning your life choices in a sauna and preparing to plunge into an ice bath, Toronto has you covered.
