Instead of a single central festival site, the events and performances will take place at venues across Calgary throughout the week. When is Calgary Pride Week?
Calgary Pride Week starts on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026 and wraps up on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026.
What’s different about Calgary Pride this year?
Calgary Pride is expanding beyond a single festival site this year, with events happening across Calgary in partnership with local organizations and venues. The new format was designed to strengthen community partnerships and support more community-led programming throughout the city. The seven “threads” organize the programming into different Pride experiences, including nightlife, Two-Spirit Programming, all-ages celebrations, and of course, the Calgary Pride Parade.
Why is Calgary Pride in September instead of June?
Now, you might be wondering why Calgary celebrates Pride in September rather than in June. According to Calgary Pride, the organization moved the annual parade in 2009 because of increased tourism during the long weekend and better weather in September.
Where is Calgary Pride happening?
Calgary Pride Week takes place all across the city, with events hosted at different venues and community spaces throughout the week. The week will kick off with a flag-raising event at The Confluence and end with a lively parade that will wind through the downtown streets.
Is Calgary Pride free?
Many of the Calgary Pride Week events are completely free to attend, including the Parade, Queer Arts Market, and Sunday’s Pride on the Island celebration, so you can celebrate without having to spend a fortune.
What do I need to know before going to the Calgary Pride Parade?
This year’s Calgary Pride Parade will take place on Sunday, Sept. 6, and will travel along 9th Avenue SW, from 5th Street SW to 4th Street SE. According to organizers, the parade is the biggest celebration of the week and regularly draws over 110,000 spectators annually. Throughout the parade, the streets will be filled with over 180 floats and parade entries, turning the area into a sea of colour.
How should I get downtown for the parade?
Since the parade will take over downtown Calgary, the streets will be pretty packed. Your best bet is to take transit if you want to avoid traffic, road closures, and the headache of finding parking.
If you’re planning on driving, parking in the Centennial Parkade along 9th Avenue will give you easy access to the parade route. Just keep in mind that parking spaces may fill up quickly, so arriving early is your best bet.
What should I know about accessibility and safety?
Calgary Pride is committed to making its events accessible, with offerings including accessible seating, free and low-cost ticket options, translation services, and other accommodations. Accessibility details will be listed on the individual event pages, so you’ll want to check them ahead of time if you have specific needs.
The organization also works closely with the City of Calgary, Calgary Police Service, Calgary Traffic Authority, and many other community partners to help ensure that events remain welcoming and safe throughout the week.

- TD Block Party
- The TD Pride Block Party is one of Calgary Pride Week’s highlights, and this year it’s taking place at a new location. Head over to the Bridgeland Riverside Community Association and Park for an evening of drag performances, local DJs, food trucks and family-friendly activities.

- The TD Pride Block Party is one of Calgary Pride Week’s highlights, and this year it’s taking place at a new location. Head over to the Bridgeland Riverside Community Association and Park for an evening of drag performances, local DJs, food trucks and family-friendly activities.
- All Ages Celebration
- If you’re looking for a Pride event the whole family can enjoy, the All-Ages Celebration is taking over Cold Garden in Inglewood. During the afternoon, you can expect drag shows, spoken word and storytelling along with a showcase of queer and trans artists from Calgary and beyond.
- When: Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026
- Where: Cold Garden – 1100 11th St. SE, Calgary, Alta.
- If you’re looking for a Pride event the whole family can enjoy, the All-Ages Celebration is taking over Cold Garden in Inglewood. During the afternoon, you can expect drag shows, spoken word and storytelling along with a showcase of queer and trans artists from Calgary and beyond.
- Pride on the Island
- Get ready to dance under the stars because Pride on the Island is bringing a stacked lineup to Prince’s Island Park. On Saturday, Sept. 6, 2026, Trixie Mattel will headline the celebration with a live DJ Set, alongside drag performances throughout the evening. On Sunday, the celebrations will continue with a completely free, all-ages event open to the public. So whether you’re there for a big Saturday night or a family-friendly way to celebrate on Sunday, there are plenty of reasons to head over to Prince’s Island Park.

Which events require tickets?
The only events that require tickets are Politics with a Drag Queen and Saturday’s Pride on the Island. All of the other events are free to attend, so you can drop by whenever you want and enjoy the celebrations without having to plan too far ahead.
Where can I shop at Calgary Pride?
The Queer Arts Market is the place to be when it comes to shopping during Pride Week. Taking place at the BMO Centre on Saturday, Sept. 5, the free market will bring together many queer artists and creators, giving you a chance to browse artwork, handmade goods, and other fun creations while supporting local talent.
