Beloved reggae band Inner Circle just proved that a game-changing milestone could happen at any time—even after 33 years!
The group’s 1992 hit, “Sweat (A La La La La Long),” reached certified Platinum status in the U.K. The track has accumulated more than 600,000 in sales and streaming units. Before this, the single had already achieved Gold certification in the U.S. in 2023 after selling over 500,000 units.
Celebrating the news with a TikTok photo slide show, Inner Circle captioned the post: “Big thanks, one love 💛💚❤️🚀.”
Also, in an Instagram post shared on September 1 after the Platinum certification news, the group wrote: “One love to iHeartMedia, every radio station keeping our music in rotation, the streaming platforms, and most of all, the fans.”
“Keep streaming, keep requesting, and keep the music playing,” they concluded. “Inner Circle—the Bad Boys of Reggae. One love.”
The achievement marks Inner Circle’s second major U.K. milestone, as their song “Bad Boys” previously earned Silver certification in the region in December 2023.

Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, Inner Circle, a.k.a. “the Bad Boys of Reggae,” got their start in 1968. They have continued to remain an active part of the reggae music scene decades later. In a 2012 interview with United Reggae, one of the group’s founding brothers Ian Lewis opened up about the genre’s larger cultural impact.
“Today, reggae is a worldwide music and reggae music unites the world,” Lewis said.

“Reggae will always survive and reggae is a way of life. It is original,” he added. “It’s like a Picasso—you can’t duplicate it. People feels something in the music.”
Inner Circle is still actively performing. Next up, they will take the stage on September 7 at Reggae Vibrations in Puyallup, Washington.
