Down With Webster is inviting Toronto residents to perform their best renditions of the iconic CanCon band’s hits at a special karaoke night devoted specifically to their songs.
Whether you can still somehow conjure up every word to “Rich Girl$” (“Clink, cheers,” never gets old) 17 years after it first dropped, or you’re more of a “Whoa Is Me” person, your time to shine may have finally arrived.
This September, Down With Webster, the Beaches-born rap rock group that defined Toronto’s post-recession airwaves, wants to hear the covers of their songs you’ve fine-tuned over nearly two decades of road trips along the 401 and late nights of partying that turn into early-morning Timmies runs.
On Tuesday, Sept. 15, the band is taking over the Monarch Tavern for a karaoke night devoted solely to Down With Webster songs, and no worries if your fandom extends far beyond the hits: the band welcomes “deep cuts and b-sides” on top of the requisite “She’s Dope” and “Your Man.”
Space is limited to 120 tickets available for $20 at the door, and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis, but you can make your intention to attend known by RSVPing to their Partiful link.

At a time when the things that define Ontario seem increasingly under attack, it’s a relief to know that we’ll always have Down With Webster to remind us where we come from.
