Ontario mall to get a massive T&T Supermarket inside a former Hudson’s Bay

5 September 20262 Mins Read

A sprawling new T&T Supermarket location planned for CF Markville shopping centre will soon become Markham’s — and all of Ontario’s — largest Asian grocery store.

The existing Unionville location will relocate to a new space within the lower level of the mall’s abandoned Hudson’s Bay location.

The new 68,000-square-foot space at Markville will be significantly larger than the existing 50,000-square-foot Unionville location when the move happens in 2028.

Tina Lee, CEO of the Vancouver-based Asian supermarket chain (which was acquired by Loblaw in July 2009), notes how Markham has “been a key part of T&T’s story,” adding, “Unionville has been a wonderful home for us for the past 14 years, and we are proud of everything we have built together with our colleagues and customers.”

“As our customers’ needs continue to grow, this bigger store at CF Markville will strengthen our presence in the market, create an even better experience for our customers, and bring more jobs to the local community,” added Lee.

Cadillac Fairview’s President and CEO, Sal Iacono, hailed the announcement of Markham’s largest Asian grocery store as a “major milestone” for the mall.

The announcement follows recent news that T&T will soon open its largest Ontario location within the RioCan Empress shopping centre in North York.

T&T has announced in 2025 that the mall’s former 66,000-square-foot Loblaws location will reopen under the new banner and become the chain’s largest location in the entire province when it finally welcomes customers this fall.

However, the new Markville location will be slightly larger and claim the title of the province’s largest T&T location when it opens in 2028.
