U.S. Hotels Extend Growth Streak as Labor Day Boosts Comparisons

In Brief: U.S. hotel occupancy, rates, and RevPAR rose year over year for the 21st consecutive week, with the Labor Day calendar shift boosting comparisons.

According to CoStar’s latest data, the U.S. hotel industry recorded its 21st consecutive week of positive year-over-year comparisons in the week ending Sept. 5.

For the week of Aug. 30 through Sept. 5, national occupancy reached 63.0%, up 9.4% from the comparable week in 2025. Average daily rate increased 6.1% to US$159.19, while revenue per available room rose 16.1% to US$100.31.

Year-over-year growth was elevated by the Labor Day calendar shift.

Among the Top 25 Markets, Minneapolis recorded the largest gains in occupancy and RevPAR. Occupancy rose 23.2% to 64.9%, while RevPAR increased 35.7% to US$87.52.

Las Vegas recorded the highest increase in average daily rate, up 24.8% to US$202.85.

St. Louis reported the steepest declines across the three key performance metrics. Occupancy fell 7.4% to 57.7%, ADR declined 4.7% to US$123.10, and RevPAR dropped 11.8% to US$71.01.
