LISA, Rebel Wilson and the biggest stars at TIFF today, Canada Reviews

11 September 20264 Mins Read

We’re only on day two of TIFF 2026, so we’ve still got tons more stars and celeb-packed events to look out for (some of them free!). BLACKPINK’s LISA is expected to make a major red-carpet appearance, Rebel Wilson is premiering her new movie Girl Group  (just one of many premieres to look out for this opening weekend), and Taron Egerton, Chase Infiniti and Jay Baruchel each have films screening downtown today.

Here are some of today’s big draws.

LISA will bring one of TIFF’s biggest crowds downtown

BLACKPINK superstar LISA is expected at TIFF for the world premiere of Always Lalisa. The documentary follows a pivotal year in her life as she temporarily steps away from the group and focuses on her solo career, acting and life outside the BLACKPINK machine. Always Lalisa gets the full gala treatment at Roy Thomson Hall at 9:30 p.m. tonight.

Rebel Wilson’s Girl Group will strut the red carpet

Rebel Wilson is back at TIFF, and she’s taken on just about every job possible for her latest movie. Wilson wrote, directed and stars in Girl Group, which makes its world premiere at Roy Thomson Hall at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Wilson plays Tassie Young, a former pop star whose attempt at a solo career goes spectacularly wrong, eventually landing her in community service mentoring a group of aspiring young performers.

Supporting cast members include Jennifer Coolidge, Randall Park, Nicole Scherzinger, Melanie C, Ashley Roberts and Shaznay Lewis. Keep an eye out for Wilson and Coolidge on the red carpet (but with such a strong cast don’t rule out some extra star power!).

Chase Infiniti and the cast of The Julia Set

Chase Infiniti stars in The Julia Set, which makes its world premiere at the Princess of Wales Theatre at 6:15 p.m. Infiniti plays Julia, a gifted math student who enters the competitive world surrounding the Putnam Exam. The cast also includes Christopher Briney, Gillian Anderson, Jason Isaacs, Chloe Bailey, Carmen Ejogo, Nina Hoss and Nico Hiraga (expect Infiniti, Briney, Isaacs, Bailey and Hiraga to strut tonight’s red carpet).

Rick Hansen gets the big-screen treatment

One of Friday’s biggest premieres is a distinctly Canadian one. Man in Motion: The Rick Hansen Story makes its world premiere at Roy Thomson Hall at 1:30 p.m., with Hansen himself expected at TIFF. The documentary looks back at Hansen’s 26-month Man In Motion World Tour, which saw him travel roughly 40,000 kilometres by wheelchair around the world while raising millions of dollars and helping change perceptions around disability and accessibility. The film was produced by Ryan Reynolds and directed by Adrian Buitenhuis.

Jay Baruchel’s wild Canadian stunt story

Jay Baruchel has another Canadian story hitting TIFF tonight, so he’s one of the homegrown stars to watch on the red carpet. The Toronto-based actor stars as real-life stuntman Ken Carter in The Stunt Driver, which makes its world premiere at the Royal Alexandra Theatre at 8:45 p.m.

The film follows Carter’s attempt to jump across the St. Lawrence River in a rocket-powered car, with Ben Foster playing legendary stunt performer Evel Knievel. Ed Helms and Laurence Leboeuf also star in the flick.

Taron Egerton leads one of TIFF’s most talked-about premieres

Taron Egerton leads the dark comedy thriller Everybody Wants to F*CK Me about a man determined to be viewed by potential lovers as the ideal catch. It makes its world premiere at the Princess of Wales Theatre at 9:30 p.m., and also stars Jessica Henwick, Mia McKenna-Bruce and Herbert Nordrum. The movie is one of the higher-profile TIFF titles currently looking for a buyer, and both Egerton and Henwick are expected on the red carpet.

Obsession star Inde Navarrette is back at TIFF

One of last year’s biggest TIFF breakout stories is getting another moment in the spotlight! Obsession star Inde Navarrette and writer-director Curry Barker are taking part in an official TIFF Dialogues conversation at the John W. H. Bassett Theatre at 4 p.m. Friday. The horror hit first made waves at TIFF last year before becoming a major box-office success, turning Navarrette into one of the year’s breakout stars. TIFF is bringing the film back for a special event screening at John W. H. Bassett Theatre at 6:30 p.m.
