CTO Appoints Courtney-Diana Walker as Sustainable Tourism Program Office

In Brief: The Caribbean Tourism Organization has named Courtney-Diana Walker to lead its Sustainable Tourism Program, signaling a focused effort to advance sustainability initiatives and policies across the region’s tourism sector.

The Caribbean Tourism Organization has appointed Courtney-Diana Walker as program officer, sustainable tourism, effective Sept. 1.

Walker will support Narendra Ramgulam, CTO’s deputy director of sustainable tourism, in implementing programs and initiatives aligned with the organization’s sustainable tourism priorities.

The appointment supports the CTO Reimagine Plan 2025-2027, which identifies Sustainable & Regenerative Tourism as one of five strategic pillars. The plan includes work related to the long-term sustainability, resilience and competitiveness of Caribbean tourism, as well as benefits for Caribbean people and communities.

Walker is a Barbadian tourism and communications professional. Her background includes sustainable tourism, cultural development, strategic communications, events, research and stakeholder engagement.

She holds a master’s degree in cultural studies from The University of the West Indies and is completing a Master of Science in tourism and sports management at UWI Cave Hill.

Walker’s professional experience includes project coordination, program development, strategic communications, event management, research and stakeholder engagement across the region. She has worked with initiatives supporting the creative and tourism industries.

Her interests include sustainable and inclusive tourism, destination development, and tourism’s role in economic and social impact.

In the program officer role, Walker will contribute to CTO work involving sustainable tourism practices, destination development and related initiatives.
