Costco teased the return of a mystery food court item this week and when the big reveal turned out to be the Twisted Churro, the internet had feelings. A lot of them.
The beloved warehouse retailer announced that the Twisted Churro, which was quietly removed from the food court in early 2024, is making its comeback. For a certain subset of Costco devotees, this is genuinely exciting news. But for a very vocal majority? The response was less “finally!” and more “that’s it?”
The comments on Instagram told the whole story. “I SAID COMBO PIZZA TF” wrote one commenter, in what may be the most succinct summary of the internet’s mood. The Combo Pizza contingent showed up in force; one pro-pizza comment racked up over 300 likes, while Reddit threads filled with dozens of supporters demanding its return.
The Polish Dog faction was equally passionate. “Not being able to get a Polish dog makes me a little sad every time I go to Costco,” lamented one Redditor, a sentiment that resonated with many.

Even among churro fans, the reception was complicated. Many shoppers who remember the straight churros Costco sold before COVID are unconvinced the Twisted version is an upgrade. “We want the NON-TWISTED ONE,” pleaded one commenter. “They changed the churro and then took it off the menu because they weren’t hitting anymore,” noted another. One user put it diplomatically: “Calories saved, lol. I’m still living in the 90s.”
To be fair, not everyone was disappointed. Some shoppers were genuinely thrilled. “Omg omg omg!!” and the churros have already reportedly started appearing at select locations.
But perhaps the real lesson here is that when you tease a mystery return and give the internet time to speculate, you’d better be ready for the combo pizza people. They are loud, they are passionate, and they are not going anywhere.
