Montara Hotel has opened in the mountains of Heredia, Costa Rica, as part of Tapestry Collection by Hilton. The property has 97 rooms, including 38 suites, and occupies approximately 540,000 square feet of grounds with more than 130,000 square feet of built facilities.
The hotel overlooks the Central Valley and includes guest rooms with private balconies and firepits. Its interiors include wood finishes, organic textures and windows facing the mountains, gardens and private lakes.
The property’s art collection includes original works by Costa Rican artists Mario Maffioli and Fabio Herrera. Maffioli is a National Painting Award recipient, and Herrera’s work is represented in the collection of New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
The hotel’s design and operating plans include solar panels for self-consumption, 100% LED lighting, electric maintenance and landscaping equipment, a wastewater treatment plant intended to support water reuse for irrigation, rainwater collection and hydration stations intended to eliminate single-use plastics.
Montara Hotel has four food-and-beverage concepts. Bosco serves dishes using seasonal Costa Rican ingredients and works with farmers, artisans and producers from Heredia and surrounding communities. An organic garden supplies the restaurant with herbs and seasonal vegetables.
Santoro is a steakhouse led by chef Regis Molina, with premium cuts, fire-based cooking and an open kitchen. The 1998 Lobby Bar serves cocktails and beverages, and a juice bar is located near the pool and fitness areas.
The property includes a 13,200-square-foot spa offering relaxation treatments, hydrotherapy, facial therapies and holistic healing practices. The spa also has open-air decks, meditation areas and private nature trails.
Montara Hotel has approximately 12,700 square feet of event space and gathering areas for corporate retreats, social events, celebrations and weddings.
The hotel is located approximately 13 miles, or 20 kilometers, from Juan Santamaria International Airport and downtown San Jose. Nearby sites include Braulio Carrillo National Park, Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens. The hotel also serves travelers visiting La Fortuna de San Carlos and Tortuguero.
