If you consider yourself a true burger aficionado, clear your schedule for this weekend. Toronto favourite Burger Drops has just announced a massive two-day collaboration with world-renowned burger scholar, author and filmmaker George Motz as part of their 2026 Burger Tour.
The announcement comes right off the heels of the Liberty Village staple heading down to New York City, where the Burger Drops team spent a day cooking their signature smash burgers alongside Motz at his legendary Soho spot, Hamburger America. Now, they’re returning the hospitality and bringing the American icon straight to the GTA to celebrate six years of flipping some of the best patties in town.
The festivities kick off this Friday, October 2 with an intimate, ticketed Meet, Greet & Eat event held at The Barn at Zawadi Farm in Downsview Park. Attendees will get to feast on unlimited made-to-order burgers whipped up by the Burger Drops trailer, enjoy local drinks and stick around for a live fireside chat and Q&A hosted by Burger Drops founder Greg Bourolias and Motz himself. Plus, fans can grab exclusive merch and pick up signed copies of Motz’s iconic book, The Great American Burger Book.
If you can’t make Friday night, don’t sweat it. The crew is taking the party back to their home base at 116 Atlantic Avenue on Saturday, October 3 for a massive patio pop-up.
Starting at 11:30 AM, Motz will be slinging his famous Oklahoma Fried Onion Burgers for just $6 a pop until they completely sell out. Given how fast queues usually form outside Burger Drops on a standard weekend, you’ll definitely want to line up early to snag one of these paper-thin, onion-laced smashies.
Tickets for Friday’s farm event are live on their site now, while Saturday’s pop-up is first-come, first-served.
