Actress Chase Infiniti has landed a role in director Dylan Clark’s upcoming religious horror film, Portrait of God, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This is Infiniti’s first film role since her breakout performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Best-Picture-Winning movie, One Battle After Another. She is also famous for her main roles in Apple TV’s Presumed Innocent and Hulu’s The Testaments. Infiniti received a Primetime Emmy nomination for her performance in the latter.
No story details have been revealed about Portrait of God, written by Clark and Joe Russo. However, the film is based on Clark’s viral 2022 horror short of the same name, which follows a religious student researching a mysterious painting housing a supernatural entity. Lionsgate will produce Clark’s feature-length film alongside horror filmmakers Sam Raimi (Send Help) and Jordan Peele (Get Out).
“We’re delighted to deepen our creative partnership with Dylan Clark, whose remarkable talent and distinctive perspective make him one of the most exciting emerging voices in horror,” said Lionsgate film group chairman Adam Fogelson. “With Sam and Jordan, two of the genre’s most influential producers, the extraordinary Chase Infiniti starring, and Dylan at the helm, this is an exceptional creative team.”
Clark is one of multiple young filmmakers who have recently broken out into the horror scene, with Curry Barker and Kane Parsons breaking box-office records with Obsession and Backrooms, respectively. Along with Portrait of God, Clark will direct the upcoming reboot of The Blair Witch Project.
“With Blair Witch, I’m experiencing firsthand the trust Lionsgate places in its filmmakers, and I couldn’t be happier that Portrait of God has found a home there as well,” said Clark. “I’m also thrilled to welcome Chase Infiniti to our team. She blew me away in One Battle After Another and is one of the most exciting young actors working today.”
