New Indian Movies & Series on Netflix: September 2026

September was a huge month for Indian films on Netflix, thanks in large part to the return of 14 films from the Excel Entertainment catalogue.

In addition, the month saw the premieres of two new Original Hindi movies — Gandhari and Lust Stories 3 — and the new Original sitcom Chumbak, plus the return of The Great Indian Kapil Show. Let’s dive in!

New Indian Movies on Netflix: September 2026

Dhamaal 4 (2026)

The fourth film in director Indra Kumar’s Dhamaal (“Ruckus“) comedy franchise finds returning characters Guddu (Ajay Devgn), Adi (Arshad Warsi), and Lallan (Riteish Deshmukh) running from pirates as they hunt for buried treasure. This is the only movie in the Dhamaal franchise currently streaming on Netflix, but no worries — every Dhamaal film stands alone.


Gandhari (2026) N

Cast: Taapsee Pannu, Ishwak Singh, Mita Vashisht
Genre: Mystery, Thriller | Added to Netflix: September 3

Haseen Dillruba‘s dynamic duo of actor Taapsee Pannu and writer Kanika Dhillon team up for the Netflix Original thriller Gandhari. Pannu plays Bani, a mother whose young daughter is nabbed from a train platform. Bani is injured while chasing her daughter’s kidnapper, leaving her to search for her child blind in an unfamiliar city where seemingly everyone conspires against her. Gandhari‘s story is kind of all over the place, so stick with Haseen Dillruba and its sequel. GDN (2026)

Genre: Biopic, Drama | Added to Netflix: September 3

R. Madhavan (Test) stars as inventor G. D. Naidu in the film GDN, which Madhavan co-wrote with director Krishnakumar Ramakumar. Naidu’s contribution to India’s industrial growth included numerous patents and the founding of multiple companies that made everything from voting machines to vending machines. Korean Kanakaraju (2026)

Cast: Varun Tej, Ritika Nayak, Satya Akkala

A drunken night at a bar in India finds Kanakaraju (Varun Tej) mysteriously possessed by the spirit of a murdered Korean gangster. His attempts to find the ghost’s killer see Kanakaraju magically whisked between Andhra Pradesh and Seoul. Vishwanath & Sons (2026)

To alleviate his mother’s concerns about continuing his family’s bloodline, wealthy athlete Sanju has a baby via surrogacy. When it’s discovered that the little boy has a dangerous medical condition, Sanju travels to America to find the baby’s mother. What Sanju discovers throws his life into chaos. Irumudi (2026)

The popular Original anthology franchise Lust Stories is back for a third time, with four new short films from four of Hindi cinema’s best directors. The collection features a who’s who of acting talent, with Konkona Sen Sharma (Accused) and Radhika Apte (Raat Akeli Hai) kicking things off in hilarious fashion in a short film by Vikramaditya Motwane (CTRL). The sweet closing movie by Vishal Bhardwaj (Khufiya) stars real-life married couple Aditi Rao Hydari (Heeramandi) and Siddharth (Test). Zakir Khan: Papa Yaar (2026) N

Comedian Zakir Khan’s first Netflix Original stand-up special Papa Yaar — which focuses on his relationship with his father — could be the last one his fans get for a while. Early in 2026, he announced that he’d be taking a multi-year hiatus from live comedy performances in order to focus on his health and well-being.

Fifteen-years-worth of movies from the studio Excel Entertainment have returned to Netflix. Director Zoya Akhtar’s (The Archies) travel-themed comedy-dramas Dil Dhadakne Do and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara are always a joy to watch.

Baby Do Die Do (2026)

A deaf girl grows up to become an assassin, intent on finding the man who murdered her twin sister when they were teenagers. Huma Qureshi stars as the adult killer-for-hire in this first film from the production house she started with her brother, actor Saqib Saleem (who has a memorable cameo in the movie). Baby Do Die Do is a stylish thriller with plenty of insight into displacement and corruption in modern Mumbai.


Ohh My Dog (2026)

The drama Ohh My Dog splits time between two parallel stories. In Assam, a schoolboy sets out to find his missing dog. In Patna, a resourceful canine tries to rescue his kidnapped owner.

New Indian Series on Netflix: September 2026

Chumbak (2026) N

Netflix turned to popular TV-writing duo Jamnadas Matheja & Aatish Kapadia to create the streamer’s first Indian Original sitcom, Chumbak. The first eight episodes of this comedy about the scuttlebutt in a tight-knit neighborhood dropped on September 10, with the next eight set for release on October 1. Dhee: Double Impact (2026)

The Great Indian Kapil Show (2026) N

Genre: Celebrity Talk Show | Added to Netflix: September 26

Comedian Kapil Sharma’s popular celebrity chat series The Great Indian Kapil Show returns for its fifth season. The first episode features a visit from the stars of the Hindi theatrical release Drishyam 3, with Sidharth Malhotra (Mission Majnu) and Tamannaah Bhatia (Plan A Plan B) stopping by in Episode 2 to promote their new film The Vvaan. New episodes air on Saturdays.


I-Popstar (2026)

Cast: Neha Kakkar, King, Aditya Rikhari
Genre: Music Competition, Reality | Added to Netflix: September 29

Unlike many other music competition shows, the licensed series I-Popstar stands out because it features entirely original songs from up-and-coming musicians. Judge Neha Kakkar told Times of India: “There is no other show where the artists are doing everything themselves. They are writing their own music, creating their own songs and then performing them.” New episodes air Tuesday-Thursday, with the finale scheduled for November.
