As we head into October, all the scary Halloween events are crawling out for the season, and more things are changing in Edmonton than just the seasons. We’ve got all the details, though, so no need to worry. Let’s jump into the spooks, scares, eats, and more ahead of us this week.
What’s trending, Edmonton?
It’s officially cooling down for the season
This upcoming weekend, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada, we’ll be hitting the negatives.
The week itself is relatively chilly, showing a mix of cloudy days on Thursday and Saturday as well as relatively sunny days on Wednesday and Friday, with the high for the week only reaching 17°C on Friday. On Saturday evening, we finally fall below zero, with a forecasted temperature of -3°C.
October also brings Picklefest to Edmonton for the first time ever
Canada’s premier pickle festival, Picklefest Canada, announced it’d be coming to Edmonton last year, and the day is coming up fast. With over 40 vendors and live music all in the downtown core, there’s going to be no better place to be during this October weekend.
On Saturday, Oct. 17, expect all things pickled to be on full display at Picklefest Edmonton.
Explore the frights coming to West Edmonton Mall this season
Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro is hosting its own epic Halloween event on Oct. 24 from 6 to 10 p.m., adding to the list of cool seasonal events in the city.
Expect roaming zombies, unlimited rides, a live DJ, a 360 photobooth, Mystery Touch Boxes, and so much more in store. There are prizes to be won, and even more fun to be had.
More drive-ins around Edmonton are bringing Halloween to the screen
Alongside Horizon Drive In, there are more horror-themed drive-in events coming to Edmonton.
Spook and Screen is a one-night drive-in movie event being held at Lake Summerside in Edmonton. Two films will be shown (one family-friendly, one a little bit more frightening), alongside food trucks, wandering characters, and so much more to enjoy.
Or maybe you want to take the Halloween vibes a step further
Warwa Woods is a thrilling Halloween event that only comes to Alberta one weekend a year, this year bringing what it called its “most ambitious haunted experience yet.”
If you’re looking to put a scare experience on your schedule for this season, this is the one. With two immersive trails and spooks around every corner, you’re definitely in for a treat.
