Jim Carrey paid $16.5 million for a Maui beachfront estate in 2016; nearly a decade later he has listed the two-house compound on Keawakapu Beach for $35 million

7 October 20264 Mins Read

Jim Carrey is putting his Maui beachfront estate on the market for $35 million, nearly a decade after he bought the Hawaii property for $16.5 million.

The 64-year-old actor and comedian purchased the nearly one-acre estate on Keawakapu Beach in November 2016. The property has about 170 feet of beach frontage and includes two homes, a private pool and direct access to the Pacific Ocean.

The listing comes as Carrey has continued to spend more time away from Hollywood and has spoken openly about enjoying a quieter life. It also comes just hours after news broke that he secretly married his longtime partner, Min Ah, in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles.

Jim Carrey’s $35 Million Maui Beachfront Estate

Carrey’s Maui property is made up of a three-bedroom, five-bathroom main house and a separate guest house with two more bedrooms and bathrooms.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the main residence covers more than 4,000 square feet and was built in 2002. It has a tropical Hawaiian design rather than the sleek look often seen in celebrity homes.

The estate was designed by architecture firm Ike Kligerman Barkley and is being offered fully furnished. That means a buyer who meets the $35 million asking price could purchase the property with much of its existing furniture and design already in place.

Carrey paid $16.5 million for the estate in 2016. If it sells for the full asking price, the difference between his purchase price and the current list price would be $18.5 million before taxes, selling costs and other expenses.

The decision to list the property comes after years of Carrey talking about his desire for a slower life outside the normal Hollywood routine.

In 2018, Carrey described his life in Maui as an “isolated life.” He also said that he enjoyed spending a lot of time alone.

In 2022, while promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Carrey said he was “fairly serious” about retiring from acting.

“I really like my quiet life,” he said at the time.

His acting career did not end completely. Carrey later returned as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Still, he has taken on fewer projects than during the years when he was one of Hollywood’s biggest comedy stars.

Carrey became a major movie star in the 1990s after leading films such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask and Dumb and Dumber. He later earned Golden Globe Awards for The Truman Show and Man on the Moon and received further praise for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

He has also spent more time painting and writing in recent years. His interest in art has been another part of the quieter lifestyle he has described publicly.

The Maui listing also follows the sale of Carrey’s longtime home in Brentwood, Los Angeles.

Carrey bought the original Brentwood property for $3.8 million in 1994, the same year Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask and Dumb and Dumber helped turn him into a major Hollywood star. He later paid $1.7 million for an adjoining parcel in 2000, creating a roughly two-acre compound.

The Los Angeles estate included more than 10,000 square feet of living space, a swimming pool, tennis court, guesthouse, movie theater, art gallery, wine cellar and a yoga and meditation pavilion.

Carrey first listed that property for $28.9 million in February 2023. The asking price was later reduced several times before the estate eventually sold for $17 million.

With the Brentwood property already sold, the Maui estate represents another major property move for the actor.

Jim Carrey’s Marriage to Min Ah

The Maui listing also comes at a major personal moment for Carrey.

A spokesperson confirmed to TMZ in September that Carrey married Min Ah, his longtime girlfriend, in a private ceremony in Los Angeles. The couple has kept much of their relationship away from the public.

The pair appeared together at the 51st César Film Awards in Paris in February 2026. During his honorary award speech, Carrey thanked his family and referred to Min Ah as his “sublime companion.”

The couple had been publicly spotted together as early as 2022.

Carrey’s latest real-estate move does not come with a stated explanation for why he is selling the Maui estate. The listing itself, however, places the nearly one-acre Keawakapu Beach property on the market at more than twice the price Carrey paid for it in 2016.
