A three-day Halloween bash is taking over this historic Calgary park

8 October 20265 Mins Read

Ghouls’ Night Out is taking over Heritage Park in Calgary this month, giving you a chance to dress up, explore the park after hours, and get into the Halloween spirit. Over three days, you can meet the Alberta Ghostbusters, browse the Halloween Market, decorate cookies, and catch live theatre throughout the Historical Village.

And if you’re looking for a night without the kids, there will also be an adults-only evening on Thursday, Oct. 22.

With so much happening around the park, here’s a closer look at what to expect at Ghouls’ Night Out.

What to expect at Ghouls’ Night Out

What can I do at Ghouls’ Night Out?

Over the three-day event, a variety of Halloween activities will take place across the park, along with four live theatre productions running in the evening, with multiple showtimes to choose from.

Here’s a look at all the activities you can do at Ghouls’ Night Out:

  • Alberta GhostBusters HQ
    • Step into the Alberta Ghostbusters’ headquarters to check out authentic props, meet costumed Ghostbusters, and snap photos with Ecto-1.
  • Ghoulish Storytelling
    • Head to the Weedon School for spooky stories, where costumed storytellers share kid-friendly tales.
  • Monster Operation
    • Remember the classic Operation game? You can play a supersized version of it and see if you can make it through without setting off the buzzer.
  • Cookie Decorating
    • If you want a break from all the spooky events, stop by Innovation Crossing and decorate your own Halloween cookie to take home with you.
      • Where: Innovation Crossing
  • Hearse
    • Keep an eye out for the Halloween hearse making its way through the village, because you might just catch it rolling past while you’re exploring.
      • Where: Throughout the Historical Village
  • Halloween Market
    • There will also be a Halloween Market set up during the event, filled with seasonal treats and local items.
    • Where: Chautauqua Tent
  • Roaming Characters
    • Don’t be surprised if a spooky character crosses your path while walking through the park. Characters will be roaming throughout the event, so you never quite know who you’ll run into next.
      • Where: Throughout the Historical Village
  • Dance Party
    • Once the sun goes down, you can head to the Didsbury Bandstand for a Halloween dance party.
      • Where: Didsbury Bandstand
  • Haunted Maze
    • The Halloween Maze will take you through a series of twists and turns as you try to find your way to the exit.

When are the theatre performances happening?

There will also be four Halloween-themed theatre performances running every night. Each show has multiple performances, so you can pick and choose which ones you want to see.

Frankenstein and the Monster will be at the Canmore Opera House, while the Halloween Royal Rumble will take place in the greenspace between Town Hall and the Alberta Bakery.

You can also catch Still Ghostbusting at the Prince House Lawn or Scooby-Doo and the Enchanted Amulet at the Blacksmith Shop.

On Oct. 23 and 24, performances run from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m., and on Oct. 25 the schedule starts a bit earlier, from 3:45 to 6:30 p.m.

What is the Carnival of Curiosities?

On Thursday, Oct. 22, Heritage Park is hosting the Carnival of Curiosities, an adults-only night running from 6 to 10 p.m. During the carnival, you can sip cocktails, walk through the haunted house, or get a reading from tarot and palm readers.

What should I wear?

Heritage Park says Ghouls’ Night Out will proceed rain or shine, and guests are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. Since part of the event takes place outdoors, check the weather before you head out and dress accordingly.

When is Ghouls’ Night Out happening?

Ghouls’ Night Out is happening over three nights, from Friday, Oct. 23 to Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 23 and 24, and on the final night, Oct. 25, from 3 to 7 p.m.

How much do tickets to Ghouls’ Night Out cost?

According to Heritage Park, admission is $24.95 plus GST for guests 16 and older, and $18.95 plus GST for children ages 3 to 15. Heritage Park Members and VIPs can also receive 15% off.

All tickets are non-refundable and unfortunately can’t be transferred to a future date.

Where is Heritage Park?

Heritage Park is located in southeast Calgary along the Glenmore Reservoir. If you’re driving, on-site paid parking is available. Daytime parking is $13 for the first seven hours (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and evening parking is $8 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The ParkPlus Zone number is 8320, and you can pay at the machines near the front admission gate or through the ParkPlus app.

If you’re taking transit, four Calgary Transit routes can get you to the park, and all of them stop at the foot of the parking lot, about a five-minute walk from the entrance.

You can take Route 402 from Heritage CTrain Station, which operates from May through October, or Route 20, which runs between Heritage Station and Northmount Drive.

In addition to Ghouls’ Night Out, Heritage Park will host several other spooky events throughout October, including ghost tours, outdoor escape rooms, and Halloween-themed afternoon tea sessions.
