Donny Osmond crashed the New Kids on the Block residency in Las Vegas. The legendary singer took the stage at the beloved boy band’s Oct. 10 show at Dolby Live at Park MGM just as band member Donnie Wahlberg was starting the song “I Need You.”
Dressed in a glittery black suit, Osmond, 68, snuck up behind Wahlberg, 57, and gave him a warm embrace. “Two Donnys for the price of one,” Osmond told the crowd.
The two then began singing “I Need You,” which is from the 1988 NKOTB album Hangin’ Tough.
Fans were thrilled by the surprise crossover of the ‘70s teen idol and the ‘80s/’90s boy band.

“Whaaaat?!?! Haha Full circle moment for those who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s!” one fan wrote on Instagram.
“EPIC! The Donny/Donnie’s I grew up with,” another agreed.
“Before there was Donnie, there was Donny! 💜,” a third fan noted.
Another fan added, “How is it possible to love 2 whole different Donnie/y’s at once! It’s like passing the torch!”
“Donny and Donnie… sounds like a Sitcom…My 2 Favorite Donnys (Donnies? 😍) … If it weren’t for The Osmonds, The Jacksons, The Beatles… there’d be no New Kids, or Backstreet Boys, or Monkees… so Thank You, Osmonds. Love to you all”
“Okay, Donnie #2 can stay in the group,” another joked of the legendary Osmond brother.

Donny Osmond was one of the most popular teen idols of the 1970s, with hits such as “Go Away Little girl” and Puppy Love” as a solo singer and other classics as part of The Osmonds with his older brothers.
In September 2026, the singer spoke to Entertainment Tonight and joked that he was the “original Donny,” especially when it comes to Vegas residencies. Osmond previously had an 11-year residency with his sister Marie and is six years into a solo residency, which was just extended for two more years.
When Wahlberg and Danny Wood, Joey McIntyre, and Jordan and Jon Knight started out as NKOTB a decade after Osmond’s teen idol success, mastermind music producer Maurice Starr wanted to create the next version of the Osmonds.
“With New Kids I wanted to re-create the Osmonds…The Osmonds had talent but they didn’t have soul and they didn’t have enough good material,” he told The Los Angeles Times in 1989. “The New Kids are different from the Osmonds. They have talent and soul and good material–good Black material.”
Osmond fans may beg to differ on that assessment. What can’t be contested is that the NKOTB audience was thrilled by the double dose of Donnys, an unexpected stage moment that brought two eras together in a celebration of pop music nostalgia.
