Before colored glassware started filling today’s kitchens, there was milk glass. The opaque glass, most commonly recognized by its creamy white finish, has been in households for generations, and vintage vases, bowls, dishes, and lamps still turn up in antique stores and collectors’ cabinets today. Now, you don’t necessarily need an antique-store run to add some to your collection.
The Better Homes & Gardens Portable Rechargeable Milk Glass Table Lamp at Walmart costs just $15, pairing a recognizable old-fashioned look with cordless functionality. The result looks decorative enough to earn a permanent spot on display, while still being practical enough to move wherever illumination is needed.

Made from a single-piece casting, the shade has a smooth, opaque white finish associated with vintage milk glass, but the simple dome shape keeps it from feeling overly old-fashioned. A slim brass-finish stem and flared base add warmth and a little midcentury influence, while the matching brass detail on top adds a polished touch. Measuring 11 inches tall and just 6 inches wide, it’s petite enough to perch on a crowded nightstand, bookshelf, kitchen counter, or small side table.
What looks decidedly retro on the outside is much more modern underneath. A rechargeable battery is built into the base, letting the lamp shine completely cordless for up to eight hours on its lowest brightness or six hours on high. A 31.5-inch USB-C charging cable is included to power it back up, though you’ll need to supply the charging block or compatible outlet.
Tap the touch sensor to cycle through warm, neutral, and white color temperatures, then press and hold to fine-tune the brightness instead of settling for a few preset levels. Go warm and dim during dinner or before bed, then brighten it for reading or working. The LED is integrated, too, so you don’t need to buy a separate bulb.
Dubbed a “sturdy, beautiful little lamp” by Walmart shoppers, this “classic” yet “modern” design earned plenty of praise. “This little gem feels more expensive than its price, with a weighty base and milk-glass shade. The charge powers the light for a few hours, and it looks very elegant on a tabletop,” one reviewer wrote.
