The Bello Bros just crowned the GTA’s best tiramisù, and the top spot went to a Toronto spot that didn’t even have a physical storefront two years ago.
Michele and Matteo Bruzzese, the Calabrian-Canadian brothers known online for ranking the best eats across the region, put out a call to their followers for the best tiramisù in the city. After visiting the top 10 most-voted spots, they handed the win to The Tiramisu Guy, beating out established bakeries and long-standing trattorias across the GTA.
It is a big milestone for founder and Italian chef Giorgio Dominici, who started the business in early 2024 out of Liberty Village. While working as a full-time chef, Dominici made tiramisù in his spare time and sold it on the delivery platform Cookin. He built the brand from scratch without investors, spending 16-hour days perfecting his recipe and building a audience strictly through word of mouth.
Part of what makes the tiramisù so popular in Toronto is the recipe itself. Dominici keeps his version gelatine-free, alcohol-free and halal-friendly without skimping on quality. He imports Italian mascarpone, uses rich espresso and layers traditional savoiardi ladyfingers.
Aside from the classic recipe, he has introduced flavours like pistachio, hazelnut, lotus biscoff and seasonal pumpkin spice.
The business has grown quickly over the last two years. After a viral collaboration with Netflix on International Tiramisu Day and a pop-up at The Well Holiday Market that sold over 2,000 units, Dominici teamed up with co-owner Gabriele Stillisano to help scale up operations.
The team now operates out of a commercial production kitchen on Skyway Avenue in Etobicoke. While the kitchen itself is only for production and online pick-up, you don’t have to order delivery to get a slice. The Tiramisu Guy’s single-serve cups are now stocked on the shelves at all 44 Longo’s locations across Ontario, making the best tiramisù in the city remarkably easy to pick up with your weekly groceries.
