This picturesque Ontario town was just named one of the world’s top travel destinations for 2027, Canada Reviews

19 October 20262 Mins Read

An internationally recognized Canadian travel destination is, literally, just a short drive away.

According to a new 2027 travel trends study, which was released last week, Niagara-on-the-Lake experienced a search increase of 35 per cent, ranking it among the top 10 global destinations in search increases for 2027 adventures. Travellers were drawn to the region’s storybook streets, scenic vineyards and lakeside charm — and it doesn’t hurt that the area is also home to the GTA’s only restaurant with two Michelin stars, Restaurant Pearl Morissette.

Niagara-on-the-Lake sits ninth on Expedia Group’s list of the top ten destinations for 2027, joining North American hotspots like Lake Tahoe in California and Sedona, Arizona, as well as global cities like Busan, South Korea and Perugia, Italy.

According to the study, travellers are looking at adult-only trips that allow them to enjoy childlike joy again, and the Niagara Falls Zipline, a 670-metre ride deep into the infamous gorge, certainly fits the bill. The same goes for the unique vineyard experiences, like the Jackson Triggs Winery concerts and the local, Michelin-recognized gastronomic experiences at restaurants like Reve, which bring visitors to the area.

But Toronto and Montreal also appear in the study for another reason: thanks to the filming and upcoming release of Heated Rivalry’s second season, the two Canadian cities are among the most coveted set-jetting destinations of 2027, meaning that people will fly to both places in order to visit sets and locations for the hit Canadian show that took the world by storm last year. According to the Expedia study, nearly one in five travellers booked a trip to visit a set from a popular movie or television show.

Another unexpected Canadian town also recently made a global list: downtown St. Catherines was recently named one of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods for 2026!

Whether travellers are looking for a dining experience to remember or to follow in Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander’s footsteps, the Greater Toronto Area is certainly drawing a crowd in 2027.
