Holiday Inn Express Planned for Perth CBD

27 October 20263 Mins Read

In Brief: IHG Hotels & Resorts and SKS Group have signed an agreement for the 103-room Holiday Inn Express Perth City Centre at 178 St Georges Terrace.

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) and SKS Group have signed an agreement for Holiday Inn Express Perth City Centre, bringing a new 103-room hotel to the heart of Perth’s CBD.

The signing ceremony, held at InterContinental Perth City Centre, brought together IHG, SKS Group and City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds to mark the latest milestone in the growing partnership.

Located at 178 St Georges Terrace, Holiday Inn Express Perth City Centre will transform the former Singapore Airlines House office building into contemporary accommodation for business and leisure travellers.

Positioned on one of Perth’s most prominent commercial thoroughfares, the hotel will offer easy access to the city’s major corporate offices, Elizabeth Quay and the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, as well as the surrounding dining, shopping and entertainment precincts. With excellent public transport connections, the location is ideally suited to corporate travellers, conference delegates and leisure guests looking to explore the city.

The signing marks SKS Group’s second hotel with IHG in Australia, following the 170-room Holiday Inn Express Cockburn, which is preparing to open this December. Together, the two developments represent 273 rooms across two key Perth locations, reinforcing IHG and SKS Group’s shared ambitions for growth in Western Australia. The relationship also extends to Malaysia, where SKS Group owns Holiday Inn Johor Bahru City Centre.

Matt Tripolone, Managing Director, Australasia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Perth remains an important growth market for IHG, supported by strong corporate demand and increasing appeal as a leisure destination. We’re delighted to be expanding our partnership with SKS Group and bringing another Holiday Inn Express to such a prominent CBD location.
“Holiday Inn Express combines an efficient operating model with the strength of IHG’s global distribution, IHG One Rewards loyalty programme and commercial capabilities. It’s about matching the right brand with the right location to deliver long-term value for owners, and we’re confident both hotels will be great additions to our Perth portfolio.”

Eugene Lim, Director and Chief Financial Officer, SKS Group, said:“We see significant long-term opportunity in Perth’s hotel sector, and this project is an important step in expanding our hospitality portfolio with IHG in Australia.
“Transforming 178 St Georges Terrace allows us to give an established CBD building a new purpose, combining our development expertise with the strength of the Holiday Inn Express brand to deliver a quality hotel in a prime city location.”

Holiday Inn Express Perth City Centre will feature the brand’s latest Generation 5 design, introducing contemporary, flexible spaces and smart technology designed around the needs of today’s travellers. Facilities will include the signature EXPRESS Café & Bar, one meeting room and an on-site gym.
