Leonard Cohen’s family and some of Canada’s biggest musicians are coming together for a special Toronto tribute concert, marking the 10th anniversary of the legendary Canadian singer-songwriter’s death.
Everybody Knows Leonard Cohen: The Official 10th Anniversary Concert Celebration will take place at Meridian Hall on Saturday, Nov. 7, exactly a decade after Cohen’s death in 2016.
The star-studded lineup includes Feist, Rufus Wainwright and Serena Ryder, who will join Cohen’s son, singer-songwriter Adam Cohen, and Adam’s son (Cohen’s grandson) for an evening celebrating the late musician’s life and legacy.
The production was created and directed by Adam and will feature performances of Cohen’s most popular songs, as well as rare archival photos and film footage! The show also marks the first time Adam will perform alongside his own son in an official tribute to his father.
“My father was grateful to his audience for keeping his songs alive. That’s what we intend to do, and I never imagined I’d be doing it standing beside my son. I doubt my father did either,” Adam said in a statement.
Cohen last performed in Toronto in December 2012 at the former Air Canada Centre (now Scotiabank Arena), as part of his Old Ideas World Tour. The legendary musician was 78 at the time, treating fans to marathon performances featuring classics like “Hallelujah,” “Suzanne” and “Dance Me to the End of Love.” These were his final appearances in Toronto before his death four years later.
November’s concert is part of the Cohen family’s first official tribute tour since a 2017 memorial celebration at Montreal’s Bell Centre, which featured performances by artists like Lana Del Rey, Feist, Damien Rice, Courtney Love and The Lumineers.
Cohen, who was born in Montreal and was one of Canada’s most celebrated musicians and poets, died at age 82, just weeks after releasing You Want It Darker, the final studio album released during his lifetime.
The tribute tour will begin in Quebec City on Nov. 2, followed by performances in Montreal on Nov. 4 and 5, before wrapping up its Canadian dates in Toronto. The production is expected to continue into Europe in early 2027.
Everybody Knows Leonard Cohen takes place at Meridian Hall on Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $60 to $125, plus fees, and are available through TO Live.
