Powerball Jackpot Soars Toward $1 Billion After No One Wins Saturday’s Drawing

1 November 20263 Mins Read

The Powerball jackpot is getting even bigger after no one took home the massive grand prize on Halloween night.

No ticket matched all six winning numbers in the Saturday, Oct. 31 drawing, sending the estimated jackpot soaring to approximately $800 million for the next drawing on Monday, Nov. 2.

The winning numbers Saturday night were 2, 4, 18, 50 and 56, with a red Powerball of 20. The Power Play multiplier was 3x.

Saturday’s drawing had offered an estimated $760 million jackpot, with a cash value of $325.7 million. It came after no ticket matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing, when the winning numbers were 11, 13, 16, 47 and 60, with a red Powerball of 13.

The jackpot has now climbed to one of the biggest lottery prizes of 2026.

How Much Would the Powerball Winner Actually Get?

If someone hits the jackpot on Monday Nov. 2, the lucky ticket holder won’t simply receive a check for the entire advertised $800 million.

Powerball jackpot winners in the U.S. can choose between an annuity and a one-time lump-sum cash payment. The annuity consists of one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5 percent each year.

The cash option for Monday’s estimated $800 million jackpot is approximately $340 million.

And then there are taxes.

Lottery winnings are taxable income. The IRS requires 24 percent federal withholding on qualifying lottery winnings, meaning roughly $82 million would initially be withheld from a $340 million cash payout.

That withholding isn’t necessarily the winner’s final federal tax bill. Depending on the winner’s total taxable income and other circumstances, additional federal taxes may be owed. State and local taxes can also apply depending on where the winning ticket was purchased and where the winner lives.

What Are the Odds of Winning Powerball?

There’s a reason the jackpot has been able to grow so large.

The odds of matching all five white balls plus the red Powerball and winning the jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338. The overall odds of winning any Powerball prize are much friendlier, though still daunting, at approximately 1 in 24.9.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play in most participating U.S. jurisdictions. Players select five numbers from 1 through 69 and one red Powerball number from 1 through 26. For an additional $1 per play, players can add Power Play, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four or five times; there is also a 10x multiplier but that can only happen when the jackpot is less than $150 million. A ticket matching all five white balls but not the Powerball is automatically boosted from $1 million to $2 million with Power Play.

The next drawing will take place Monday, Nov. 2 at 10:59 p.m. ET.
