FF7 Remake and Rebirth Are Less than $8 Each on Nintendo Switch 2

2 November 20263 Mins Read

If you’ve been waiting for Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth to go on sale before checking them out, your patience has paid off. At least, as long as you’re okay with a bit of DLSS hair-frizz. Square Enix is hosting a huge sale on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 eShop, and included in that sale are FF7 Remake and FF7 Rebirth for $7.99 and $7.49, respectively.

The Switch 2 version of FF7 Remake includes the Intergrade DLC. That means you’re getting Cloud and co.’s journey through Midgar, in addition to Episode Yuffie, which introduces the Wutai ninja and digs into some of the more obscure lore that plays a part in the broader Remake trilogy. Normally, FF7 Remake on Switch 2 retails for $39.99.

Remake on Switch 2 surprised us with just how well it runs. Barring some occasional choppiness, the frame rate remained steady — including in combat, where it matters most — though the resolution sometimes takes a hit. That hit is comparatively minor thanks to the enclosed spaces of Midgar meaning there’s less need to render things at a distance. The hair can be distracting, though. If you’ve seen Resident Evil 4 remake on Switch 2 in handheld mode, you’ll have a good idea what to expect.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is discounted to $7.49, down from $49.99. This is just the game itself. There’s a set of deluxe edition DLC that gives you some in-game items, too, which is on sale for $3 (down from $20). Bear in mind there’s no story expansion in this DLC, though. It includes:

  • Magic Pot summoning materia
  • Orchid Bracelet armor
  • Reclaimant Choker accessory
  • Digital art book
  • Digital mini-soundtrack

Rebirth puts more of a strain on Switch 2 than its predecessor, though that’s hardly surprising. It’s an open-world game with a lot more going on in it. Asset pop-in is a frequent issue in the open world itself, and character models look less detailed than their PS5 counterparts, for example. But the game still runs well, and if frame drops happen, it’s rarely during pivotal moments or battles.

With Final Fantasy Revelation coming up in April, now’s as good a time as ever to check out the rest of the remake trilogy — or refresh yourself on its events before the big finale.
