Bloor and Bathurst has seen plenty of changes over the years. Its latest arrival takes on a familiar problem — finding somewhere to eat when nobody in the group can agree on what they want.
Landing at Markham Street in early 2027, The Kitchen is carving out a massive two-floor hangout inside the rebuilt Mirvish Village. The room spans over 9,000 square feet, seats roughly 460 people inside and rolls out another hundred seats onto the pavement across from Honest Ed’s Park when the weather co-operates.
The concept, run alongside Toronto’s Kitchen Hub, brings 12 local food spots under one roof, without the usual food hall shuffle. No trekking between stalls, separate credit card charges or waiting in line while your mate’s noodles go cold.
Everyone orders at the same touch screen, whether it’s dumplings, burgers or fried chicken, and it all goes on one bill. Once the food is ready, the kitchen sends it along a conveyor belt to a pickup cubby, so the whole order is ready to collect at once.
Beyond the food, there’s room to hang around. Bleacher seating leads up to a mezzanine, garage doors open onto the street in warmer weather and a drop-down projector screen and sound system set the scene for game nights and live music.
The 12 vendors are expected to be announced in early 2027. Until then, the names remain under wraps, though anyone who’s lost half an evening trying to get a group to agree on dinner will understand the appeal.
