A decade-hopping silent disco is turning a Calgary museum into a dance floor

3 July 20263 Mins Read

A Retro Silent Disco is taking over The Hangar Flight Museum in Calgary for a one-night event that turns one of the city’s most unexpected spaces into a full dance floor. Instead of your average night out at the club, you’ll be dancing inside a museum surrounded by real aircraft, glowing lights and a full crowd of people all wearing wireless headphones. The theme of the night is Retro, featuring throwback music from across the decades, with DJs playing everything from ’70s hits to early 2000s anthems.

Now let’s take a closer look at how the night will unfold.

Dance through the decades

On Saturday, July 11, the Hangar Flight Museum will fully transform into a retro-inspired dance floor. While the space is typically known for its aviation exhibits, it will be reworked for the night, with multiple DJs, visuals, and lighting filling the entire museum.

When you arrive, you’ll be given a pair of wireless headphones that light up and connect to the DJs playing throughout the space. A simple switch on the headphones allows you to change the channel at any time, so you can move through the decades without even leaving the dance floor.

According to organizers, the theme of the night is all about throwback energy, with music spanning the 70s, 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. Each DJ channel is dedicated to a different era, so you can switch between disco classics, 80s anthems, or early 2000s favourites depending on your mood.

And if you get a little parched from all the dancing, there will be a bar set up in the space offering a mix of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

What to know before you hit the dance floor

The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It’s also important to note that this is an 18+ event, so you’ll need a valid ID to get in. Tickets start at $45, and availability is limited, so it’s worth grabbing yours ahead of time if you’re planning to go.

Since you’ll be on your feet for most of the evening, comfortable shoes are a good idea, and it’s best to wear something you can move around in while you’re dancing.

So grab your friends, enjoy the music, and dance the night away!

When: Saturday, July 11, 2026
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: The Hangar Flight Museum – 4629 McCall Way NE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $45
