A romantic adults-only hotel in B.C. was named one of the best in the world

22 June 20262 Mins Read

If you’re looking to treat yourself to a getaway close to home this summer, a historic B.C. hotel may just be what you’re looking for.

Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards, based on the highest number of top reviews over 12 months, were recently released, and Abigail’s Hotel in Victoria was ranked number one in Canada.

The adult-only, 30-room property inside a 1930s Tudor mansion also cracked the top 10 hotels in the world, sharing company with some astounding accommodations.

“This year’s Best of the Best Hotels winners represent the top choices of millions of travelers who stayed, experienced, and took the time to review these properties,” said Laurel Greatrix, chief communications officer of Tripadvisor Group, in a release.

“Whether it’s a luxury resort in Indonesia, an adventure lodge in Oregon, or a crane suspended above Amsterdam, these winners create the foundation of truly unforgettable trips.”

The rankings look at stays that check all the boxes, including outstanding service, comfortable rooms, and amenities. According to Tripadvisor, less than one per cent of eight million listings achieve this title.

Abigail’s Hotel landed in seventh spot on the top hotels in the world list, ahead of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort Aruba in Eagle Beach, Aruba, and just behind La Siesta Hoi An Resort & Spa in Hoi An City, Vietnam.

The boutique bed-and-breakfast hotel is located at 906 McClure St. in the province’s capital.

Each room inside Abigail’s is decorated in one of seven unique themes, each designed to showcase different moments in time.

“We are proud and honored to share that Abigail’s Hotel has been recognized among the top seven hotels in the world and remains the number one hotel in Canada,” the hotel posted online. “We are especially proud to be the only Canadian hotel ranked in the global top 10.

“This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without our dedicated team, whose passion and commitment create exceptional experiences every day, and without our wonderful guests, whose support and loyalty continue to inspire us.”

Accolades are continuing to roll in for B.C.’s hospitality sector, with a serene hotel spa named one of the world’s best in 2026.
