Agoda has reported a 55% month-on-month increase in accommodation searches from travelers in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore for check-ins during the Hari Raya festive period of 20 to 23 March 2026.
Bali is the most searched destination among travelers from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore for Hari Raya, followed by Yogyakarta, Bandung, Kuala Lumpur, and Tokyo. While destinations within Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand remain popular, there is increased interest in Japan and China.
China ranked among the top five destinations for travelers from these markets, with accommodation searches increasing by 7% year-on-year during the Hari Raya period. This increase follows China’s recent expansion of visa exemptions and eased transit rules.
Japan is also seeing growing appeal for travelers from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. The Japanese government has set a target of attracting 60 million foreign tourists annually by 2030, with ongoing efforts to broaden the range of travelers visiting the country.
Agoda’s data covers searches for accommodation check-ins during 20 to 23 March 2026. The increase in searches reflects a shift in travel preferences during Hari Raya, with more travelers considering destinations beyond their home countries.
Agoda’s Tailored to Win report found that hotels implementing advanced localization strategies saw a 59% increase in Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR). The report also indicated that reflecting cultural, linguistic, and behavioral preferences is increasingly important for hotels and accommodation partners. Hoteliers can strengthen their appeal during Hari Raya by highlighting halal-certified meals, prayer facilities, and other Muslim-friendly amenities.
