All important choices in Dispatch Episode 1 (‘Pivot’)

28 January 20263 Mins Read

Episode 1 (“Pivot”) is the first chapter of Dispatch. In it, you’ll take on the role of Robert Robertson, who is actually the third generation of the superhero Mecha Man. Robert retires as a superhero, but is quickly recruited to join the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN) to help mentor heroes-in-training.

There are a few pivotal choices in this episode, with one of the spiciest being whether you kiss Blonde Blazer or not.

Below, we explain all of the choices that actually matter in Dispatch Episode 1, and what outcomes you’ll get from making each one. And if you’re looking for how these choices play out in the long-term, check out our comprehensive guide to all major choices in Dispatch.

All important choices in Dispatch Episode 1 — ‘Pivot’

The first important choice in Episode 1 (“Pivot”) is choosing whether to drop the Soothing Goon or pull them back up. Your choice will affect your Hero/Antihero Counter:

  • Let him drop: Antihero Counter +1
  • Pull him back: Hero Counter +1

Next, you’ll encounter a couple quick-time events (QTE) and a hacking minigame. These usually adjust your Robert Mentor Counter as a success would give you +1, but as you’re technically not mentoring anyone at the moment, these do not count towards your role as a mentor. If you’re aiming for the heroic ending, we recommend turning on Cinematic QTEs and Unlimited Hacking Attempts in the settings as these will automatically count as a success and make your playthrough a bit easier.

After you finish the hacking sequence, you’ll need to choose one of the following options:

  • “It’s over, Shroud.”: Hero Counter +2
  • “Prepare to die.”: Antihero Counter +2
  • “I’m here to fuck you up.”: Hero Counter +2

The next important decision you’ll have to make comes after the fight scene in the warehouse at the press conference. Reporter Charles Kinglsey will ask you, “How disappointed would your dad be if he were here right now?”

To which you can do the following:

  • Answer: Hero Counter +3
  • Leave: Hero Counter +3
  • Attack: Antihero Counter +3

From here, you’ll leave the press conference, get into a scuffle with some robbers, and ultimately get saved by Blonde Blazer who ends up taking you to a bar. After the two of you chat it up for a bit, Blonde Blazer will excuse herself to go to the bathroom, leaving some room for Flambae to approach you and not-so-kindly ask you to leave the premises. You can respond by throwing either of the two at him:

  • Water: Hero Counter +1 (and chip his front teeth)
  • Alcohol: Antihero Counter +1 (and burn his eyebrows)

Depending on the option you choose, Flambae’s appearance will change for the rest of the game, so, if you don’t particularly like him, now is your chance to get revenge.

Should you kiss Blonde Blazer or let the moment pass in Dispatch?

The last “important” choice in Episode 1 comes towards the end of Mecha Man’s and Blonde Blazer’s conversation on the Phenomaman billboard where you’ll need to either kiss Blonde Blazer or let the moment pass. No matter your decision here, you can still romance either Blonde Blazer or Invisigal, but electing to kiss Blonde Blazer now will change a few things in later episodes, such as dialogue options and music.
