You’ve seen Andrew Garfield take names on the big screen before — remember those Spider-Man flicks?
And now, in what looks like a much grittier turn, the 43-year-old is starring in The Uprising, an action period film hitting U.S. theaters September 10.
Featuring other big names like Jamie Bell, the movie is said to dramatize the Peasants’ Revolt in England dating back to year 1381. Check out the trailer below.
While the release date nears, Garfield has been out and about promoting his new feature. That includes surprising attendees of a Lectures on Tap history lesson in Los Angeles this week, where fans were stunned to see the Oscar nominee in the flesh.
Not only that, but Garfield reportedly dropped some unexpected knowledge on the folks in attendance. During the evening’s discussion of the Peasants’ Revolt, he thanked the crowd for coming to learn about “one of history’s most fascinating stories,” which is also the historical setting of his upcoming film.
The actor stayed to share his experience and drop some of knowledge about 1381 to the crowd, according to a recent news release.
Here’s the official premise of The Uprising, as fans await its U.S. release: “Garfield stars as the leader of a ferocious rebellion against the tyranny of King Richard II. Set against the true events of the Uprising that helped inspire the legend of Robin Hood, he forms an army of the people to face the King’s might in a fight for justice.”
Garfield Has Switched Up His Look
Earlier this year, Garfield made headlines with his bold hair transformation that left the Social Network star nearly unrecognizable.
On Jan. 12, the magician duo Penn & Teller’s official Instagram account posted a photo of him — and instead of Garfield’s usual shorter, brown hair, the English actor rocked noticeably long, blond hair. Check it out below.
