Arkouda Stays to Open 20-Room Arkouda House Hotel in Big Bear Lake, CA in May 2026

Arkouda Stays plans to open Arkouda House, a 20-room luxury wellness hotel in Big Bear Lake, California, with a May 2026 debut. The project involves a multimillion-dollar redevelopment of the property, located near Big Bear Village.

The site originally opened in 1960 as the Honey Bear Lodge. After sustaining significant damage during the 1992 earthquake, the property was restored and has now been redeveloped by Arkouda Stays into a modern alpine hotel.

Arkouda House will be the second property in Big Bear for Arkouda Stays, following the opening of Arkouda Cabins, a nine-unit retreat, in November 2025.

The hotel will feature a wellness center with a sauna, hot tub, and cold plunge. The property is designed to offer a walkable, social setting for couples, groups, and small families.

Big Bear is experiencing growth as a year-round destination and is seeing increased interest in wellness and high-altitude training travel. Arkouda Stays also highlights a trend of travelers seeking cooler mountain destinations during the summer.
