B.C.’s largest Earth Day event to bring live music and a huge plant sale to Surrey this weekend

22 April 20263 Mins Read

Happy Earth Day, Vancouver! If you’re ready to make the most out of all this gorgeous sunshine, mark your calendars for Saturday, April 25, when B.C.’s largest Earth Day celebration returns to Metro Vancouver.

Now in its 15th year, Surrey’s Party for the Planet has become a beloved springtime tradition, bringing together a mix of fun environmental activities, food trucks galore, and a massive plant sale. It’s the place to be to shop for sustainable, locally made goods with the environment in mind, with vendors from across the Lower Mainland in attendance.

In addition to interactive booths about sustainable practices and environmental action, visitors can check out free kids’ activities, live music, games, and tasty vegan and vegetarian food truck eats.

There will also be 750 free tomato plants up for grabs through a giveaway following the Welcome Ceremony with the mayor and Surrey City Council at 2 p.m.

Feeling parched under the sun? Hop on a blender bike and pedal to make yourself a refreshing smoothie!

Budget-friendly plant sale

The annual Surrey Parks Plant Sale is your one-stop shop for all things outdoor plants. Pick up some gorgeous ferns, trees or shrubs like Vine Maples, Nootka Rose bushes, Saskatoon berries, or Western Honeysuckle, or perennials like Bleeding Hearts, Woodland Strawberries, and so much more. There are so many beautiful native plant varieties to choose from, both flowering and fruit-bearing.

According to organizers, native plants are great for your outdoor space because they don’t require fertilizer, are generally watered less, and are naturally resilient to garden pests. Plus, you get to support local wildlife like bees, birds, and butterflies in the process.

And if that’s not enough of a reason to pick up a couple of new plant babies, just know that they’re a super budget-friendly way to bring more greenery into your living space, with all plants priced between $3 and $6 each.

Note that the plant sale accepts debit and credit purchases only, and the varieties you find may vary depending on what has been able to grow thus far.

Mark your calendars, plant lovers!

When: Saturday, April 25, 2026
Time: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: 13450 104th Ave., Surrey
Cost: Free admission
