We asked readers to tell us about the best sandwiches in Canada – and the answers were delicious. From a lobster roll “to die for” in East Ferry, N.S. to a “taste of heaven” in Ottawa, you told us where to go for a tasty sammy in your neck of the woods.

Canada’s best sandwiches: Readers share their top picks from coast to coast

Our original list is organized by sandwich type, but if you’re looking for a recommendation in your area, here’s our list sorted by province.

  • The lobster rolls from Shaw’s Landing near Peggy’s Cove. One reader said it’s a must try if you’re looking for authentic Nova Scotia lobster rolls, with a great view to boot.
  • The East Coast Classic from North Brewing Company in Dartmouth. The crunchy haddock sandwich is “a perfect meal for anyone looking to experience the true maritime lifestyle,” one reader said.
  • The scallop sandwich from Evan’s Seafood in Dartmouth. Globe and Mail design editor Benjamin MacDonald said the crispy battered scallop sandwich is “an absolute must try,” even for those who avoid seafood.
  • The meatloaf panini from Bird’s Nest Cafe in Halifax. A thick slice of meatloaf with a tomato-bacon jam and old cheddar. Once a hidden gem, it’s become a hot commodity in the city.

  • The Falafel Pita Sandwich from Falafel St. Jaques in Montreal. One reader said the vegetarian sandwich “checks every box.”
  • The Foul Sandwich from Kahéra in Montreal. This hot fava bean sandwich is like eating a messy and delicious meal tucked in a tidy package.
  • The Duluth from Santropol in Montreal. One reader said the cream cheese and pear slice sandwich is a great mix of sweet, salt and crunch.
  • La P’Tite Épicerie in Gatineau. One reader currently living in B.C. said that nothing comes close to the simple and delicious sandwiches from this deli spot.

  • Sandwich #8 from Il Negozio Nicastro in Ottawa. Taking a bite of the grilled chicken, pancetta and provolone sandwich “is a taste of heaven,” according to one reader.
  • The vegetarian sandwiches from Bombay Bakers in Brampton. One reader said that the combination of vegetables and green chutney “reminds me of the same taste I used to get back home in Mumbai.”
  • The turkey club from Sirkel Foods in Stratford, featuring deli turkey, bacon and fresh locally-grown veggies.
  • Crossroads convenience in North Bay. One reader says it’s hard to pick a favourite sandwich from this creative spot, but they would shout out the Kimchi Turkey Melt.
  • Vincenzo’s in Waterloo. One reader said their favourite sandwich to order is goat cheese and smoked salmon, and covered in walnuts, but others go even nuttier on the condiments.
  • The peameal bacon sandwich from the Carousel Bakery in St. Lawrence Market in Toronto. A staple for decades, one reader said it’s “simple, delicious, always satisfying and a pretty good deal.”
  • The curry chicken wrap from Le Gourmand in Toronto. Roasted chicken, apple slices and a creamy curry sauce, wrapped in a soft tortilla.
