Actress Demi Moore, 63, has been on the scene since [checks watch] the early 80s if you watched General Hospital (1982-1983) way back then. Otherwise, it’s been since the mid-80s if you didn’t catch up with Moore until she kicked off her film roles in Blame It on Rio (1984) and St. Elmo’s Fire (1985). That’s [checks calculator] like four decades PLUS. Shouldn’t we be pronouncing her name right by now? The actress recently stepped out among fans and politely explained how to properly pronounce “Demi.” Listen and learn!
In a viral video caught as Moore was heading into an event at The 92nd Street Y in New York City, she quickly stopped to greet a group of fans and sign autographs. As she’s signing away, she must have heard a person in the crowd mispronouncing her name—because she says, “Remember, it’s Demi” and then laughs.
One fan says, “I knooowww,” but it seems not everyone does. People, even fans of the actress, have been getting her name wrong for decades.
So for those of you reading, her name is pronounced ”Duh-mee” not “Deh-mee.”
