Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Episodes 1 & 2 Easter Eggs

  • The 60th Anniversary opening sequence contains most, if not all, versions of Star Trek ships seen over the decades.
  • “Ad Astra Per Aspera” – Chancellor Nahla Ake (Holly Hunter) references this Latin phrase “Through adversity to the stars” is on a plaque at Cape Canaveral honoring the crew of Apollo I. Michael Okuda, who designed the computer displays on the bridge of the Enterprise in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and was later hired to work on Star Trek: The Next Generation, borrowed it for Star Trek: Enterprise after he saw the plaque. It was later used as a title for an episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and a phrase Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn) lived by. The phrase was used on recruitment posters in the future and was referenced in the Lower Decks/Strange New Worlds crossover episode, “Those Old Scientists”.

  • The Ramcon Six simulation program that Chancellor Ake runs in the premiere episode calls to mind the other famous simulation program in the Star Trek Universe – Kobayashi Maru.
