Horizon Drive-In is bringing a special Halloween-themed weekend to Edmonton, playing a number of spooky and scary movies in honour of the festive season.
After its continued success at Edmonton Valley Zoo, Horizon Drive-In had to come back for a final round of drive-in movies. This time, all nine movies will be horror films or family-friendly Halloween movies to bring all the energy and fun just in time for the holiday itself.
These events run in partnership with the Valley Zoo Development Society, meaning a portion of every ticket sold will go directly toward helping build and enhance the future of the Edmonton Valley Zoo. With every ticket purchased, you help support the incredible conservation, education, and animal care initiatives right here within the community.
What to know before attending Horizon Drive-In’s Halloween Edition
Ahead of the event, it’s important to note that parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis within designated parking areas that will be based on vehicle type. It’s not going to be a free-for-all, so to ensure a smooth arrival experience, the team behind the drive-in recommends arriving approximately 30 to 45 minutes before your showtime.
You must have a working FM radio to hear the movie audio from your car. According to Horizon Drive-In, the movie audio is broadcast directly to your vehicle through a designated FM frequency, so you’ll need to have a working radio or a portable battery-powered FM radio to get the full experience.
This time around, guests can also enjoy the movie from Horizon’s front-row outdoor seating area. This whole area is positioned directly in front of the vehicle viewing area, and people are welcome to bring their own lawn chair or blanket, get comfortable, and enjoy the movie under the stars. Audio will be provided through a dedicated speaker in the seating area, so no radio is needed.
Keep in mind, though, that this ticket does not include vehicle access, meaning this is a walk-in ticket only.
Feeling hungry? Concessions will be available on-site with cash, debit, and credit accepted. If you want to skip the line, you’ll be able to pre-order your snacks online and use the express pickup lane for faster service.

From Thursday, Oct. 29 to Saturday, Oct. 31, Horizon Drive-In will be showcasing nine different movies at the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Each day will showcase three different movies:

Saturday, Oct. 31
Tickets are available online; driver tickets and car passenger tickets cost $15 plus fees, while tickets for those 15 and under are $10 plus fees. Walk-in outdoor seating costs $10 plus fees.
