The 2026 Nintendo Direct was crammed with more than two dozen announcements. These ranged from ports of major games like Metaphor Re:Fantazio and Dragon’s Dogma to updates on Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and even Kingdom Hearts 4. Sort of. There’s even a new turn-based Final Fantasy game in the works, out later this year.
We’ve rounded up all the big Nintendo Direct 2026 announcements below, including trailers and updates.
Rhythm Heaven Groove finds its beat
Nintendo kicked off the showcase with a detailed look at Rhythm Heaven Groove and some of its minigames, like lobbing frogs over a rainbow. There’s more than 80 new games in this one, along with an RPG-style mode that’s like a combo of Street Fighter and Theatrhythm, where you press button combinations in time to the music. Rhythm Heaven Groove is coming to the original Nitnendo Switch and the Switch 2, and it launches on July 2.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is coming to Switch 2

The Orbitals is coming soon
The Orbitals showed up in Nintendo’s Switch 2 marketing for months, and it finally has a release date now: September 3. There’s a new trailer, too.
Rayman Legends remake leaps onto Switch 2
Rayman Legends, which Ubisoft first revealed during Sony’s June State of Play, will release on Switch 2 on October 1.
Take a Big Walk
Big Walk is a chill co-op game where you, a strange little round bird with musical chirps, hang out with friends in nature. You can build stuff, play games, or just sit and watch the sunset. Big Walk is out on August 1.
There’s a One Piece cooking game
Forget adventuring on the high seas. One Piece: Grand Gourmet casts you as a chef at a high-profile restaurant cooking meals for your clients and managing your business with a mix of Devil Fruits and smart financial sense. Grand Gourmet launches for Switch and Switch 2 on October 23.
Pokémon Pokopia dives beneath the waves
Nintendo and Koei Tecmo are releasing a free Pokopia update in August that lets you go underwater to meet new Pokémon and build more settlements underwater. There’s also a paid expansion pass out now, but the update that it unlocks (the first part of which is free) still won’t be playable until August.
A Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave release date at last
Nintendo revealed Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave in 2025 and then said nothing else about it until now. The new Fire Emblem game releases on September 17, and there’s a lengthy new trailer breaking down the story and who each protagonist is.
Ninjala 2 exists, and it’s getting broken into parts
Nintendo revealed Ninjala 2, a follow-up to 2020’s online multiplayer game. It’s launching in parts, and the first part is a Switch 2 exclusive slated for release in spring 2027.
Nintendo’s adding NES Remix-style retro challenges
To Donkey Kong games, anyway. You’re tasked with completing special challenge levels in classic Donkey Kong games to get collectible digital cards, and there’s a set of missions in Donkey Kong Bananza as well. This set of challenges goes live today and lasts until September 1.
The Vampire Survivors devs are making a Jujutsu Kaisen game
Ish. It’s called Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton is an online “survivors royale” that’s a lot like Vampire Survivors, but with friends. It’s out later this year.

That Devil May Cry 5 Switch 2 port is real

Xenoblade Chronicles Switch 2 editions are inbound
Nintendo and Monolith are releasing Xenoblade Chronicles, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Switch 2 versions. The upgrades promise 4K and 60fps in docked mode and 1080p and 60fps in handheld. Cutscenes have enhanced resolution and framerates as well. Monolith added a new vehicle in Xenoblade Chronicles, lets you control Blades in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and included a wave-based combat mode in XBC 3.
The updates have staggered release dates:

- Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Switch 2 upgrade: Digital and physical out December 3
And Monolith announced Xenoblade Genesis, a new Xenoblade game
Xenoblade Genesis is a brand-new Xenoblade game with no ties — no overt ties, anyway — to the three Chronicles games. It’s partly a school story, as the protagonist attends an elite academy by day, but in keeping with the series’ usual ethos, it’s a political drama as well. The protagonist and other playable characters are learning the truth about their world after, apparently, being indoctrinated about its past for years. There’s also an angry fallen god. It is a Xeno- game, after all.
Xenoblade Genesis is out in 2027.
Nintendo Switch Sports takes the field again
The legacy of Wii Sports lives on in a new Nintendo Switch Sports game, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort. It’s a follow-up to the original Nintendo Switch Sports, which itself was a continuation of the influential Wii pack-in game. Final Fantasy Resonance brings the series to HD-2D
It’s not Final Fantasy 17, but it’s what a lot of people have wanted for a long time: Final Fantasy in HD-2D. Final Fantasy Resonance is a classic-style turn-based Final Fantasy all about bad rulers and special crystals, and it’s out on October 22 for Switch and Switch 2.
We’re getting a Pikuniku sequel

Another look at Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World

FromSoft breaks a year of silence about The Duskbloods
A year after FromSoftware announced The Duskbloods as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, the Dark Souls maker finally had more to say about the upcoming multiplayer game. There’s no release date yet, but FromSoft is holding a closed network test this summer.
Splatoon Raiders still looks slick
Splatoon Raiders came out of nowhere in a random Nintendo Today announcement. It looked a lot like a single-player Salmon Run mode at the time, and it kind of still does, though the focus is firmly on grabbing as much loot as possible while you’re out exploring. Splatoon Raiders launches on July 23, and there’s a special Splatoon Raiders Direct on June 30. Nintendo’s hosting a Raiders-themed event in Splatoon 3 as well.
Deltarune’s next chapter is coming soon

Minecraft’s Switch 2 edition lets you carry your worlds over
There’s a Minecraft Switch 2 version out later this year, and it’s got the enhanced lighting and shadow effects you can find on other consoles. Switch worlds can carry over to the Switch 2 version, so you can pick up right where you left off.
Square Enix is finally putting Kingdom Hearts on Switch 2
Square Enix is putting three Kingdom Hearts collections on Switch 2 on October 8:
- Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 HD Remix
- Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
- Kingdom Hearts 3 + ReMind
Which is basically the entire series. If you played the cloud versions, you can transfer your saves to these versions as well. There’s a demo for Kingdom Hearts 3 out now.
And gave a new look at Kingdom Hearts 4
Years after announcing Kingdom Hearts 4, Square Enix turned up to the June 2026 Nintendo Direct with a gameplay trailer. Sora’s leaping and slashing his way through Shibuya Crossing in fabulous style, though there’s still no release date. It will, however, launch on Switch 2 whenever it does launch.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake
The rumored Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is real. The reveal trailer goes big on lore and tells the story of Ocarina‘s Hyrule in a manner similar to Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom‘s histories before switching to in-engine footage of Link being his lazy self in bed. And that’s about it. The Ocarina of Time remake launches sometime later in 2026.
Nintendo first launched Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, and it’s been ported several times since — via bonus disc for the Gamecube, then for the 3DS, and, more recently, plopped on Switch Online Expansion Pack’s classics library.
