Festivals and Conferences Drive Strong July for Canada Hotels :: Hospitality Trends

  Nova Scotia recorded the largest increase in average daily rate, up 12.1% to CAD272.46. Events included the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, Halifax Jazz Festival and Pictou Lobster Carnival.

According to CoStar data, Canada’s hotel industry recorded gains in July 2026, with festivals, conferences and cultural events supporting performance across several markets.

National hotel occupancy increased 1.6% from July 2025 to 78.9%. Average daily rate rose 7.2% to CAD267.44, while revenue per available room increased 9.0% to CAD211.01.

Quebec posted the strongest provincial gains in occupancy and RevPAR. Occupancy rose 7.8% to 81.7%, while RevPAR increased 17.1% to CAD213.11. Events included FEQ and Startupfest.

Nova Scotia recorded the largest increase in average daily rate, up 12.1% to CAD272.46. Events included the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, Halifax Jazz Festival and Pictou Lobster Carnival.

In New Brunswick, ADR increased 11.2% to CAD200.55 and RevPAR rose 13.0% to CAD167.88. The Shediac Lobster Festival was among the events held during the month.

Montreal led Canada’s major hotel markets in growth across all three key metrics. Occupancy rose 11.8% to 84.5%, ADR increased 10.7% to CAD268.71, and RevPAR climbed 23.7% to CAD227.11.

The city hosted the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Nuits d’Afrique, the International Fireworks Competition and the Osheaga Music Festival.
