Filming Begins on New ‘Peaky Blinders’ 1950s Sequel Series in Stoke-on-Trent

Just as the world prepares for the release of the Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man, production has officially kicked off on the next chapter of the Shelby saga. This week, cameras began rolling in Stoke-on-Trent for the highly anticipated 1950s-set sequel series.

Production crews from Kudos (the team behind This Town and SAS Rogue Heroes) descended upon Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, for a focused two-day shoot on March 4th and 5th, 2026. While the project has been kept under a “top secret” banner locally, it has now been confirmed as the next major entry in the Peaky Blinders universe, and we’ve got some BTS shots.

The historic Queen’s Theatre has served as the production’s primary hub for the past couple of days, although, as previously confirmed, most of the shoot will take place at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham.

The first day of filming (March 4) was almost entirely contained inside the theater. The grand, vintage interior of the Grade II-listed building provides the perfect backdrop for the mid-century aesthetic required for the new era. On the second day (March 5), the action moved slightly outdoors to nearby Jenkins Street. Residents were treated to a glimpse of 1950s-era cars and period-appropriate set dressing to transform the neighborhood into post-war Britain.

Stoke-on-Trent has become a favorite haunt for Steven Knight. Parts of the original Peaky Blinders series were filmed at Middleport Pottery and the Queen’s Theatre in Burslem, which has been closed for many years.

What is this new series?

While the upcoming movie The Immortal Man (set during WWII) serves as the bridge, this new project is a two-season sequel series that moves the timeline forward to 1953.

According to the official logline, the series focuses on a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham Blitz. The story follows the “next generation” of the Shelby family as they navigate the brutal, high-stakes world of post-war reconstruction. In this era, the race to rebuild Birmingham with concrete and steel becomes a “brutal contest of mythical dimensions.”

In recent weeks, one production listing company has called the project Peaky 1954 and has the following synopsis:

“The two new six-part hourlong sequels will follow on from the Peaky Blinders movie. Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart.”

The focus of this series is firmly on the younger Shelbys taking the wheel. From the pictures today, we can identify and confirm several cast members, including Cal O’Driscoll (Video Nasty, September Says), Fintan Shevlin, and Jacob Wright

With filming having just begun in March 2026, we expect the first of the two six-episode seasons to arrive on Netflix in mid-to-late 2027.

In the meantime, fans don’t have long to wait for their next Shelby fix. Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man premieres on Netflix globally on March 20, 2026.
