Finally, a Carry-On That Tackles One of Travel’s Messiest Issues

As magical as travel can be, there’s always a tiny voice in the back of your head reminding you that airports are, to put it simply, a lot. So many people, so many rolling suitcases, so many tray tables and armrests that have seen things. Hotels do their best (and we appreciate them for it), but when rooms turn over that quickly, you can’t help but wonder about the remote control or the decorative throw pillow. It isn’t that travel is dirty—it’s just that when that many humans are moving through the same spaces, a little germiness is inevitable.

And then there’s your suitcase. The real drama isn’t even the airport—it’s the moment you’re trying to separate your worn clothes from the fresh ones. Suddenly you’re building little fabric walls, shoving socks into shoes, and praying your gym outfit doesn’t cozy up to your clean dinner look. It’s chaotic, right?

But wait, there’s actually a really simple solution to this problem. Flipside designed a carry-on that’s actually kind of genius and should really be mandatory for all luggage. It has a movable center divider that keeps clean and worn clothes totally separate—no extra laundry bags, no packing cubes required. You just flip the partition as the trip goes on. It keeps everything organized and makes unpacking way less worrisome.

From the outside, FlipSide’s carry-on looks like a simple, sleek piece of luggage, but it’s really that partition that sets it apart (no pun intended) from other travel pieces. And it comes in four different colorways: pink stripes, red stripes, blue stripes or white stripes.

Having put this carry-on to use on two separate weekend trips, I can personally say it does an excellent job at keeping my worn clothes a safe distance away from my clean stuff. And that’s such a relief when you arrive back home and are trying to decide if everything needs to get thrown in the wash, even if you didn’t wear it.

The carry-on itself is only 8 pounds, so you’re starting out with a light piece of luggage in and of itself (how much you add to it to make it heavier is on you). And it rolls like a dream. If you’re worried whether or not the carry-on’s dimensions will really fit into that dastardly overhead compartment, let me put your mind at ease. In FlipSide’s product description they describe the bag as TSA complaint, fitting the U.S. standard of 22-inches-by-14-inches-by 9-inches.

While this makes a great piece of luggage to purchase for yourself, it also makes a great gift for the frequent flier in your life … or someone who you may be traveling with on a special trip soon enough.
